THE D'EVELYN HALF AND HALF Saturday, November 22, 2025 at D'Evelyn Senior High School and Online
You are enthusiastically invited to participated in our first invitational tournament: The D'Evelyn Half and Half on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at D'Evelyn Senior (10359 W. Nassau Ave, Denver). Registration will be from 8:00 am to 8:30 am, and doors to the school will open at 7:30am.
So why is it called the Half and Half? Because half of the events will be live and in-person and half of the events will be asynchronous recordings. (We have a small building.) * LD, PF, CX, National Extemp and International Extemp will be held in-person Saturday, November 22. * Humor, Drama, Duo, Poetry, POI, OO, and Info will be submitted on recordings to be judged asynchronously.
Students may double enter in as many Async events as they'd like. Students may enter only ONE in-person event, but they may also enter Async events. If you provide the judges, you may cross-enter students in whatever events are appropriate (but ONLY ONE in-person event).
We will be using current CHSAA rules.
Pre-registration: All schools that are planningnto attendmust pre-register through Speechwire.com. Enter early, since we expect our rooms to fill quickly. Please notify us of all drops as soon as possible. I will call or emailyou if I have questions or if we are full.
Recordings for Async events must be sumbitted by THURSDAY, November 20. That will allow me time to check if the links work and time to correct broken links.

A special note about CX/Policy Debate: In order to encourage novice debate teams and also help transition them into varsity debate, ALL debate teams will be in the same mixed division. However, All teams are limited to the novice case areas.
Limits on entries: Each school is limited to 5 entries per event. We might be able to accommodate more as we get closer to the tournament. Go ahead and enter waitlisted students. We will close the tournament when rooms are full.
Fees: Fees are listed on Speechwire.com. Please make checks payable to D'Evelyn Senior High School, attention Tammie Peters, 10359 W. Nassau Avenue, Denver, CO 80235. For Jeffco Schools, I will get back to you with the account number for transfers.
Judging: Schools are expected to provide judges to cover their entries. Please submit the names of 1 judge for every 6 non-debate entries and 1 judge for every 2 debate entries. The biggest limitation on the size of the tournament (especially the Async part) is the number of judges provided. Please provide at least a beginner's understanding to your judges before the tournament.
Schedule: All events will have 3 preliminary rounds and finals. All undefeatd debaters/teams will have a final round. All judging for the Async rounds will happen on Saturday and should be finished by 2:00pm so we can schedule finals.
Rules Notes: A responsible coach must be available ONSITE and VIA CELL at all times. Competition is open to 9-12 grade students. In OO and Info, scripts are not allowed
Food: Food will be available for students to purchase. We will provide snacks and lunches for coaches and judges.
