Greetings Coaches!

Omaha Brownell Talbot is excited to host the Nebraska Frontier Conference (NFC) Speech Tournament this year on Wednesday, February 25th 2026. This is the first meet I've had the opportunity to host and I am happy to have you involved! A few things of note:

ENTRIES - Entries are due for submission by 12:00 PM on Monday, February 23rd 2026. Each team is allowed two entries in each of the ten NSAA speech events. An individual student may only be entered in up to three events.

ARRIVAL TO BT - We will be having school on the day of competition, so we would kindly ask that for traffic purposes you aim to arrive no earlier than 3:45 PM. Busses may park in the lower circle drive (East entrance off Happy Hollow Blvd). When you get here, you may enter in the south doors of the western building seen in the "Files" section on SpeechWire. There will be students and volunteers to help you find where to go. Duet and OID blocks, chairs, and tables may be brought into the commons upstairs in the western building.

REGISTRATION - We will have a table inside prepared with maps and more information. If your team does warm-ups as a group please let me know ahead of time so I can make sure to have a room available.

STRUCTURE - With three schools we won't be holding a final/elimination round. Instead, we will be utilizing the collection of ballots from preliminary rounds for final ranking calculations. With this being said, all individual events (EXT, ENT, HUM, INF, PER, POE, POI, SER) will perform twice and get a total of three ballots. Group events (OID and DUET) will perform once and get two ballots

TIMELINE - I do premptively apologize that this year's tournament will go rather late. I have done my best to condense the schedule as much as possible while still giving students the feedback that they deserve from amazing judges. Throughout the day we can shift the schedule up as judges are made available from their previous rounds.

BALLOTS - We will be utilizing paper ballots throughout the competition.

AWARDS - The top six in each event will be recognized at awards with the top three performers recieving an individual medal and 4th through 6th recieving a certificate of achievement. Team sweeps will follow NSAA guidelines based on points. The champion and runner-up schools will be awarded an NFC plaque insert. The top 5 individual sweepstakes winners by points will be awarded a certificate of achievement. To qualify for individual sweepstakes, a student must compete in more than one event. The basis for individual sweepstakes goes as follows

1.      The competitor with the highest number of sweepstake points (same procedure as team sweeps 1st = 20 pts, 2nd = 18 pts, etc)

2.      If still tied, the competitor with the highest number of first place ranks in rounds

3.     If still tied, the competitor with the highest number of superior ratings.

4.     If still tied, the competitor with the highest number of speaker points

5.     If still tied, the two competitors will share the title.

CONCESSIONS - The BT Booster Club is proud to host the concessions stand for students and parents to get dinner, snacks, or a drink. There will be a meal deal including: Raising Cane's Chicken Strips, chips, and a drink for $10. The BT Booster Club accepts cash and card.

HOUSEKEEPING - BT's core values include integrity, compassion, respect, and responsibility. We ask that by keeping this in mind we are respectful of the classrooms and spaces we will occupy. Please do not touch a teacher's possessions or move around chairs in the classroom without putting them back. We want to host an invitational next year and would like our faculty know that speech students know how to be responsible and respectful.
