Hello Speech Coaches –
Hoffman Estates High School will be hosting the D211 VARSITY Turkey Tourney tournament on Saturday, November 22, 2025!
HEHS will proceed with running a standard varsity tournament. Rounds for the Varsity tournament are currently scheduled to be flighted (see schedule below), however, I plan to condense this as much as possible once I have received final information regarding building availability, so stay tuned for schedule changes. Students will compete in 3 preliminary rounds, along with next-in finals, & finals. We are not allowing triple entries at this time. Each final round contestant will receive an award and the top 6 schools (based upon performance in prelims) will receive trophies.
Limited Prep:
- Extemp will prep for 2 preliminary rounds and choose their better speech of the two for round three.
- Radio Speaking will prep for round 1 and use that script for rounds 2 & 3.
- Extemp and Radio will prep for final rounds.
Entry Fees & Judges:
1-14 entries -- $150 (Bring 3 judges)
15-28 entries -- $200 (Bring 5 judges)
29-42 entries -- $250 (Bring 6 judges)
- One judge for every 5 entries
- We will be using e-ballots and electronic critiques
- Judges should bring their own technology; technology rental/check-out will be available, if needed

8:30 Radio and Extemp: Prep for Round I
9:15 Round I: ES, HDA, PR, RS
Round II: DDA, DI, HI, IMP, INF, DEC, OC
10:15 Extemp Prep for Rd. II
10:45 Round II: ES, HDA, OO, PO, PR, RS, SOS:
Round III: DI, HI, OC
12:15 Round III: DDA, EXT, HDA, IMP, INF, DEC, OO, PO, PR, RS, SOS
1:30 Radio and Extemp Prep for Final Rounds
2:15 Next-ins & Final Rounds: ALL EVENTS
4:00 AWARDS! (Next-ins & Final round contestant(s) will receive an award, top 6 schools will receive trophies.)
You may enter up to three competitors per event, with the option to request additional entries. To request extra entries, please email Naz Ahmed (nahmed@d211.org) and add your request to the Speechwire waitlist. Extra entries will be accepted in the order they are received.To prioritize more student competitors, single-entry participants will take precedence as events fill up over double-entered competitors. Additional fees apply for extra entries, and teams receiving extra spots must provide additional judges.
Concessions will be available for students to purchase in the cafeteria.
All HEAD COACHES are welcome to join us in the TAB ROOM.
A "Thanksgiving-Themed" breakfast & lunch will be provided for the Tab Room.
