Dear Coach and Squad,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the Carthage Winter Classic on January 9th and 10th, 2026. We will be offering combined individual events and policy debate with novice and varsity levels of LD and PF debate. Registration will occur through Speechwire.com. Names of all students competing will be required upon return from winter break. Schools are guaranteed 2 entries per event with additional entries accepted as space allows.
Our tournament will offer the following events:
Varsity and Novice Divisions: Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Public Forum Debate.
Open Divisions: Policy Debate, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Program of Oral Interpretation, Informative Speaking, Storytelling, Pre-Recorded Radio Speaking, Prose/Poetry Reading (Student Choice), and Duo Interpretation.
Schools must provide 1 judge to use throughout the day on Friday and through preliminary rounds on Saturday. Wifi will be provided for student use at this tournament. While wifi will be provided for all, we can not guarantee connectivity will happen for all devices. All MSHSAA internet rules apply.
The entry deadline is Friday, December 19, 202 at 1:00 pm. Upon return from winter break, schools will be able to adjust their entries as needed. Schools are financially responsible for all entries on Wednesday, January 7th, 2025 at 3:30 pm. We will send out confirmations as soon as we are able on Wednesday 1/7/26. Please mark on Speechwire ASAP if you plan to attend so we may begin obtaining the appropriate number of judges. We reserve the right to limit entries to provide a tournament that can function with an adequate number of judges for the amount of entries we receive.
We look forward to hosting you and your squad.
