The Wauseon High School Speech and Debate Team and the Wauseon Rotary cordially invite you to the 2025 Wauseon Rotary Speech & Debate Tournament to be held on Saturday, December 13. This year’s invitational will feature Individual Events, Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Congressional Debate. All middle school events will be offered as well. 

THE FACTS:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

• Cost per student: High School and Middle School Entries - $6.00 ($12.00 per duo or PF team). Each team will also be charged a $12 Tech fee.  
• Deadline:  Wednesday, December 11 at 11:59 pm.
• Drops morning of tournament -- Please text Jason Robinson at (419) 708-8183.
• Venues:   All competition will be at the Wauseon Elementary/Middle School Campus, 940 East Oak Street, Wauseon, OH 43567.
• Drop-offs:  Students may be dropped off at the Wauseon Middle School event entrance in the back parking lot of the building. 
• Parking:  Buses and individual vehicles should park in the event parking lot behind the school. Teams may enter through the event entrance.
• Judges (HS): IE - 1 judge per 5 entries; PF/LD - 1 judge for every 2 entries; Congress - 1 judge/parli per team.
• Judges (MS): IE and Extemp Debate - 1 judge per 5 entries; PF - 1 judge for every 2 entries; Congress 1 judge/parli per team.
• Food:  Snacks, lunch, and beverage will be available for sale. Food will be provided for judges. We will work to ensure a variety of foods are served to meet the diverse needs of judges and competitors alike.
• Tabbing:  We are planning to use electronic critiques for all events. Please advise your judges to bring a laptop or ipad. 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Judges:

• We will do our best to separate high school and middle school judges; however, it is possible that the middle school and high school judge pools will be combined.
• All Debate judges should be prepared to judge both public forum and lincoln douglas debate.
• We hope to have a limited number of I.E. judges for hire. The cost per judge will be $50. Please text Jason Robinson at (419) 708-8183 prior to the tournament day to arrange for judges.

Individual Events:  We will offer four rounds of I.E. competition and three sessions of Congressional Debate.                                                                                          

USX and IX should report for draw at 8:30.  PLEASE BEAR IN MIND that while guest internet access will be available for extemp competitors, the student filters wlll be in place and may limit access to certain websites.   

PF and LD will use the current NSDA topics.

Congressional Debate will use the OSDA-approved dockets.

Middle School: We will offer four rounds of competition in all speech and debate events, combining speech categories if necessary. Congess will use the approved OSDA Middle School Docket.
