The Lincoln High Speech Team would like to invite you to the...

Totally Awesome 2025 Capital City Classic on Friday, December 12th!

TOURNAMENT FORMAT: There will be three rounds of competition and finals.  Competitors may quad-enter, but rounds will not be held past their start time. We are a large building, so your quad-entered students will need to be sure to get to their rounds on time!  We are also pleased to announce we will be a NIETOC Bid Tournament again this year! Bids will be offered in Varsity NIETOC events according to final entry numbers in those events.

EVENTS:
     -  Varsity: EXT, OO, ENT, INF, IMP, HI, DI, POE, POI, DUO, OID
     -  Novice: EXT, OO, ENT, INF, IMP, HI, DI, POE, POI
     -  DUO will run with a 12-minute time limit to accommodate Duet Acting scripts.
     -  OID will run with a 15-minute time limit to accommodate all NSDA classes.

FEES: Entry fees will be $8.00.  All fees will be assessed at entry deadline. Drops after deadline will not reduce judging requirements.

JUDGES: Please provide one judge for every five (5) entries. Uncovered judges will have a $15 fee per uncovered entry.  Please make every effort to cover your judging slots -- we need your judges more than your money!  If you have a large entry, we may have to run rounds with your speakers hitting. Please make sure to note any "clean" judges who may judge your own students. All judges need to be available for finals.

E-BALLOTS:  Please note that we will be running electronic ballots this year.  ALL judges MUST have a wi-fi enabled computer, tablet, or phone; and will need to have a current/working e-mail address in order to receive ballots.

AWARDS: We're trying something new with trophies (again)! It is our strong belief that what we do in speech is not about the brand-new trophies, but the messages and community we share. We will once again have vintage (CLASSIC) trophies for the top 3 in each event, but we will also have 80s themed medals for every competitor.  Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top five teams, as well as a small entry award for teams with 12 or fewer entries.

CONCESSIONS: There will be a concession stand available throughout the tournament for competitors and judges- located in the Cafeteria. We will have: pasta (mac n cheese, spaghetti with/without ground beef) with a toppings bar, a salad bar, pizza from Little Caesar's, standard snacks and drinks, and meal deals. Judges will receive a wristband to "jump the line" in the cafeteria, and will have a separate space to eat in the teacher's lounge.

PARKING: School will be in session until 2:05pm so parking will be VERY limited in the school lots until at least 2:15. Note there are several businesses and offices with large parking lots in the area -- please avoid those lots to keep spots open for customers and employees. There is a large public parking lot across the street for Lewis Field #1 (2210 M St, Lincoln, NE 68510); the entrance is found along the west bound Capital Parkway. The student lot will also have available parking. Student drop off will be easiest in either the staff parking lot (main lot) or in the circle drive at 21st and J Street (just to the west of the main building).

ARRIVAL/REGISTRATION: Please try to plan on arriving no earlier than 1:45 pm. When you arrive, go down the stairs to the CAFETERIA.
Registration and general meeting will be located in the CAFETERIA, where we will also have general meeting. All students, judges, coaches MUST stay in the CAFETERIA until school is dismissed at 2:05pm.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 at 8:00 pm.
