Fear Of Missing Out (F.O.M.O. IX) 2025 @ Lincoln Middle School

Welcome Back to the F.O.M.O. Forensics Families Everywhere!
You are cordially invited to the Fear of Missing Out (F.O.M.O.) Invitational IX and the St. Augustine Catholic Forensics League (SACFL) 1st meet of the 2025-26 season. Sorry for the late posting and hope our friends can still get their administrations to let them come out! As you know, The F.O.M.O. is recognized as the initial event, each year for considering new competitors, breaking new interps and platform speeches. Top Novices are recognized in each Varsity event (if teams let us know before Round 1 starts who their novices are). If you are fully memorized that’s great! We know you will shine! But we want competitors to get the feel of “winging it a little” at the FOMO even if they are still on script in the early season.

Why (you may ask) is this the perfect event for new competitors? Well, we are usually the first St. Augustine Catholic Forensics (SACFL) event of the year, and we allow scripts in all events! We feature Congress, Declamation, Just Talk, Dramatic Performance, Duo Interp, Oral Interp, Original Oratory, Impromptu, Extemp, Info, Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy Debate (CX). We also have that popular, 16 total minutes long, public speaking extravaganza, Extemporaneous Debate.

Students are allowed to double enter----- with this caveat----attempting any combination of Policy Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking for double entry---- would be extremely difficult for our Tournament Director, therefore this combination is not allowed. Also, Congressional Debate----in concert with any other event is problematic for matching judge time periods, and chamber breaks,----and therefore double entry is not allowed.
CONGRESS LEGISLATION DEADLINE IS September 21st.  Submit any legislation to Mr. Weston via email at westonmr@gm.sbac.edu.

Tournament Etiquette:
Wait outside of a room until you are sure no one is speaking. Applause is usual at the start and stop of presentation in Speech events. Listen at the door before entering.
Please make your DROPS before you get to the tournament. Even if it’s at 5am or 6am, DROPS of students and/or judges--please relay changes as soon as you know them.
DROP FEES include a forfeiture of the entry fee and the penalty fee beginning on 9/25.
NO DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT ADDS are allowed.
We have to pay and feed hired judges. Please don’t drop judges the morning of. No judges means no events.
Judges must be  available for all events. We will be gentle when we can but if we want to depart for home before 7-8 pm we need flexibility in our judges.

Lunch for Saturday will be pizza (cheese, pepperoni, veggie). Have the kids bring $5.00 cash each and give us a number for your squad by September 25 for lunch orders. We will have a concession stand with snacks and drinks--please bring cash! Also, please remember that snacks and concessions are the way teams that host tournaments make judge hospitality possible. If anyone in your group has dietary restrictions, please have them bring there own food items.

Looking forward to having you at Lincoln Middle School in Gainesville at 1001 SE 12th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641. Please get your entries in as soon as possible but no later than September 22nd.
