2026 Eastern Ohio National Speech & Debate Association District Congressional Debate

GENERAL INFORMATION
WHEN & WHERE: The Eastern Ohio NSDA District Congress will be held IN PERSON at CVCA on Saturday, March 21, 2026!
REGISTRATION will begin at 7:30 AM - details to follow.

Please send Congresspersons!!! Last year, Eastern Ohio NSDA qualified 2 Senators and 7 Representatives to the National Congress! Let's keep that tradition going!

REGISTRATION: We will use the Speechwire website for registration.
ALL students must be on record at the NSDA by Saturday, March 14 by 6:00 p.m. EST. Registration will close at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. ALL schools – Charter, Provisional and Member – may seat Congresspersons by memberships and degrees. Send your scenarios to Holly at holly.humes@gmail.com. We must have names and scenarios of contestants by Wednesday night, March 18!

NATIONAL TOURNAMENT SINGLE ENTRY LETTER OF INTENT (SELI): You will find this form on the NSDA website! The Single Entry Letter of Intent must be completed by any Student Congress competitor who has qualified in a solo event to the National Tournament. For example: Penny Harris has qualified in OO; but, she is competing at the District Congress. She must submit a SELI indicating her preference to compete in OO or Congress at Nationals. You may access the NEW & IMPROVED SELI from the following link: https://www.speechanddebate.org/wp-content/uploads/District-Tournament-Single-Entry-Letter-of-Intent.pdf
The Letter of Intent must accompany your registration! (It is also available under "Files for Download").

JUDGES: We are securing independent judges, but we always need more! If you know any other independent judges, please forward me the information.

FEES: $10.00 per student. Speechwire will provide an invoice.

SENATE: We plan on having a Senate that will qualify two (2) Senators to the National Student Congress. We must have at least six (6) schools participate in the Senate with 10 entries to be a valid Senate. If the Senate gets too large, we will split it into two (2) qualifying Senates. We have not done this in the past, but it is an option should numbers dictate.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: We will probably have six (6) to seven (7) preliminary Houses of Representatives. This year we will determine national qualifiers in the House from a Super Session! These are the qualification numbers for 2024: 16 - 29 = 2 Representatives; 30 - 58 = 4 Representatives; 59 - 87 = 6 Representatives; 88 - 116 = 7 Representatives; 117 - 145 = 8 Representatives, 146+ = 9 Representatives.

If you have multiple entries in the House of Representatives, you may group your Representatives as you wish. Your groupings must be evenly balanced between House Chambers. The groupings will be randomly drawn for seating in a House. Fill out scenarios for 5, 6, and 7 chambers. Once a student has been registered in a chamber s/he may not be changed to another chamber. If there is a drop, it must be filled by an alternate!

Kindly meet our deadlines! Have all registration appropriately entered in Speechwire. Group your Congresspersons by the scenarios and send to Holly. We will have another GREAT EOHNSDA District Congress!
