Moberly High School is excited to invite your team to participate in our Second Annual Moberly High School Invitational on Saturday, November 15, 2025. This tournament is open to students in grades 9–12 and will feature Individual Events only.
We will be using SpeechWire Tournament Services for all entries, which should be submitted online at https://www.speechwire.com. Tournament Name: Moberly High School Invitational.
The following events will be offered:
Prose, Poetry, Humorous, Dramatic, Storytelling, Duo, Duet Acting Informative, Original Oratory, U.S. Extemp, International Extemp, and Radio Speaking.
All Individual Events will consist of two preliminary rounds, with the top competitors advancing to semifinals and finals.
Important Notes:
Events will follow current MSHSAA guidelines.
Laptops and other electronic devices are allowed; however, Moberly High School cannot guarantee access to power outlets. Students may not unplug another device to use an outlet.
Each school must provide one judge per eight entries. If requesting additional entries, please plan to provide judges accordingly.
Entry fee: $10 per event.
Entry deadline: Friday, November 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Entries are guaranteed three per event, with wait-listed entries accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Changes deadline: Monday, November 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM. After this date, drops will still be charged the entry fee.

6:30–7:30 AM: Registration in the Spartan Way (Buses unload at main entrance, east side along Gratz Brown Rd)
8:00 AM: Extemp Draw Round 1
8:30 AM: Round 1
10:30 AM: Extemp Draw Round 2
11:00 AM: Round 2
1:30 PM: Extemp Draw Semifinals
2:00 PM: Semi-Finals
4:00 PM: Extemp Draw Finals
4:30 PM: Finals
General Rules
Students may enter a maximum of three events.
Medals will be awarded to 1st–6th place in Individual Events. Trophies will be presented to the top three sweepstakes schools.
Entry fee: $10 per event. Schools are financially responsible as of 3:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025.
All MSHSAA and Moberly High School policies apply. Misconduct may result in disqualification.
A concession stand and adult hospitality room will be available. Students should keep food and drinks in the Spartan Way/Cafenasium.
Tab Room will be located in the library’s second classroom and remain open throughout the tournament. Coaches may view standings via SpeechWire.

Top 6 competitors in each event advance to finals.
Medals for 1st–6th place; Sweepstakes trophies for top 3 schools.

Individual Event Rules Highlights
All events follow MSHSAA rules.
U.S. & International Extemp: 7-minute speeches on current events.
Original Oratory & Informative: Student-written, memorized, ≤10 min. Max 150 words of direct quotations.
Humorous/Dramatic/Duo/Duet Acting/Storytelling: Memorized selections of literary merit; 10-minute limit with Storytelling having an 8-minute limit. Storytelling must be a published story for children; no props or costumes.
Radio Speaking: Script must include news, sports, and weather. Use copy no older than 24 hours. No commercials or multiple characters.
Prose & Poetry: Maximum 8 minutes; selections interpreted from published works. Prose ≤50% dialogue.
