BHSS Debate Tournament (CANCELED)

Welcome to Bloomington South’s Debate Tournament. This is my first time running a tournament, so there will still be a learning curve for me. I would be eternally grateful if teams would make their entries as early as possible so that I can gauge room usage. I’m looking forward to providing all coaches, students, and judges with an incredible competition experience!
LOCATION AND TIME ZONE. The tournament will be held on December 13th, 2025 at Bloomington High School South on 1965 S. Walnut Street Bloomington, IN 47401.The tournament will run on Eastern Daylight Time.
PARKING. All buses and other vehicles may drop students off at the front of the school (Door 1) which faces Walnut St. Buses should then park at the back of the school, while other vehicles may park in any of the parking spaces around the building. Please make sure to come into the school through Door 1.
REGISTRATION/ENTRY DEADLINE. The Entry Add deadline is December 8, 2025 at 5:00. Judge/Entry drops are due December 10th, 2025 at 5:00.
ENTRY LIMITS. The Tournament has a cap of 150 entries. Each team may enter up to 4 entries per category. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Edit 11/16/25: You can now start adding entires/judges to the tournament).
FEES AND FOOD. Concessions will be provided at a reasonable cost. Judges will be provided with food/drinks throughout the day. Cash only!
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE This tournament will feature LD, PF, World Schools and Congress in Varsity divisions. We will have 4 rounds of competition for LD and PF, and 3 rounds WSD with power matching. We will have 2 rounds of Congress (each will be 2 hours).
Timing - Registration starts at 8:00am. Registration closes at 8:30am. Judges' Meeting/Lounge will be in the Large Group Room and will start at 8:45 a.m. Round 1 will commence at 9:00am.
World Schools - The first 2 rounds will be using the prepared topic. Round three will be an impromptu round. Prepared Motion: This House believes that more should be done to help solve the problem of homelessness.
Congress Bills: Morning Session: A Resolution to Amend the US Constitution to End Private Companies Use of Eminent Domain, A Bill to Kill the Shadow Docket, and A Bill to Reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Afternoon Session: A Bill to Reallocate Funds from Fossil Fuel to Nuclear Energy, A Bill to Regulate the Use of Facial Recognition Technology to Protect Civil Liberties, and A Bill to Establish an Expanded North America Free Trade Agreement (ENAFTA)
JUDGE REQUIREMENTS - For LD, PF, and WSD, bring 1 Judge for every 2 entries or fractions thereof. For Congress, 1 Judge for every 4 entires. Please indicate if a judge is "Clean". Please block-off any parents from judging categories in which they have children competing at the Tournament.
THIS IS AN E-BALLOT TOURNAMENT. Judges must return their signed and properly scored ballots and completed critique sheets at the end of each round electronically. Please note and communicate to your judges: All judges must submit critiques and/or reason for decision in order for ballots to be accepted. All judges MUST bring a device, i.e., laptop or tablet for judging.
JUDGES LOUNGE: Large Group Room.
AWARDS: Awards will be given to individual students 1st through 6th in each event. Team trophies will also be awarded.
