General information

This is a High School tournament in Minnesota.

To avoid less-than-desirable speaking rooms, the Eastview Lightning Classic continues to use two buildings.  Valley Middle School of STEM will house the Open division, and Eastview High School will hold our Championship division.  As always, we strive to have a great judges' and coaches' lounge in both buildings.  Concessions will be available to students, coaches and judges throughout the day.

Divisions:

As we have done in the past, we will have an Open Division (for the less-experiences speakers; usually 1st or 2nd year) and Championship Division (more experienced speakers).  We will have a final and honor final round in each division; larger events will also feature competition in merit and consolation finals.  Honorable mentions will be recognized for those who just miss the final round.  Students cannot cross between division (i.e., cannot be in Championship Oratory and Open Great Speeches) and also cannot double-enter in two draw events or a single draw event and Discussion.

Cost:

Each entry will be $8.00 ($16.00 for each duo entry).  The drop deadline is Wednesday, February 18 at 5:00 p.m.  Drops made after that deadline will forfeit the original entry fee.

Judges:

Please provide one judge for every six entries.  Uncovered judges will cost $150.00.

Shuttle Buses We will provide shuttle buses from Valley Middle back to EVHS at the end of the day.  You will need to drop your speakers off at their respective building (Championship EVHS, Open VMS) in the morning.
