Dear Speech Coach:

Your team is invited to attend the Maple River Speech Invitational tournament at Maple Valley Public School in Tower City on Saturday, February 22^nd. The tournament is open to grades 7-12 and will follow NDHSAA guidelines.

Registration will open at 8:00am. There will be a judges meeting at 8:30. (Add/Drop Sheets will be provided). Speaking will begin at 8:45 with Flight A round 1.

The competition will include all 14 NDHSAA speech events in one varsity division. Each of the 14 events will have two preliminary rounds and one final round. We will allow up to 4 entries per category per school.  – 2 entries per student; however, please note that we may not be able to protect speaking times if students are double entered. Multiple entries may result in loss of preparation time. Students may compete in both serious and humorous duo but must have a different partner. Up to 8 contestants will be accepted for the final round, and all finalists and top novices will count toward team points.  Concessions will be available.

Please Note: To allow for an earlier completion to the tournament, we will send draw materials for round 1 of EPR, Extemp, and Radio by 1:00 pm on Friday, February 21^st.

Fees are $7 for each single entry and $12 for each duo entry.  You must provide one judge for every six entries.  Fees for judges provided by the tournament are $75 per judge.  Please make every effort to provide your own certified judges.  If you do not require a judge but know a good candidate, please reach out to me with his/her contact information. 

Completed registrations are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14^th.  Fees will be assessed as of 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19^th.  Drops made after the deadline will not reduce the registration fee.  Checks for all fees should be made payable to Maple Valley Public School. Please bring payment on the day of the meet or mail it to Maple Valley Public Schools 207 Broadway Street, Tower City, ND 58071.

Concessions will be provided onsite starting at 8am.
