DEBATE EVENT TOPIC AREAS

POLICY DEBATE: Prep time is 8 minutes per team. The tournament will use the 2024-2025 National Topic.

Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

LINCOLN DOUGLAS DEBATE:  Prep time is 4 minutes per debater. The tournament will use the NSDA March/April topic (announced February 1).

PUBLIC FORUM DEBATE:  Prep time is 3 minutes per team. The tournament will use the NSDA March topic (announced February 1).

Semis - State and Local Politics*

Finals - Economics, Business, and Industry

*The semifinal round will be specific to Florida and its major urban areas.

Round 1 - Africa

Round 2 - Asia (including the Middle East)

Round 3 - Europe

Round 4 - South America

Round 5 - North America (excluding the US)

*Speakers will draw three headlines from major international papers. They will then write their own question based on that headline.

WORLD SCHOOLS DEBATE:

WORLD SCHOOLS DEBATE - Please vote and encourage your students to vote for the World Schools Debate - Florida Topic.  Coaches and students can vote as many times as they like.

Round 2 - Resolved: This House regrets giving the president of the United States the power of the pardon.

Round 3 – Impromptu

Round 4 - Resolved: This House believes the United States federal government should assume a Chinese attack on Taiwan is imminent.

Round 5 - Resolved: This House regrets the withdrawal of France from West Africa.

Round 6 - Impromptu

Quarters - Resolved: This House believes that governments of struggling economies should embrace cryptocurrencies.
