Come join us at Lee's Summit HS on 7-8 February 2025 for the February Frenzie Speech/Debate Invitational!

This tournament is for FIRST AND SECOND YEAR competitors!
We welcome all your novices and still-kind-of-novices at our tournament. This will accomplish two things:

   1. Allow schools to bring some "nearly varsity" competitors that aren't going to UCM for the varsity tournament.
   2. Open up the competition for novices.

ENTRIES:
Each entry will be charged a flat rate of $8.00.
Entries dropped after 4 Feb will incur a drop fee of $4.00 (instead of the initial entry fee).
Entries dropped the day of the tourney wll incur the full cost of the entry, $8.00.

Please enter by 30 January 2025 to receive priority.
All entry requests are placed on the waitlist. Entries are lifted from the waitlist once judge capacity makes the event allowable.
You can continue to add, modify, and drop entries at will. Registration will never close.

JUDGES:
Please bring 1 qualified person (adult or 3rd/4th year competitor) as an official school judge. This can be you as the coach, though that's not what any of us prefer.
Want lots and lots of entries? -- bring a couple of judges! If you help us recruit, we'll try to give you as many entries as possible. I like a fair trade.

***** If you bring extra judges, I'll give you a credit on your invoice, up to 3 judges. I'm willing to credit you -$16/extra judge.

Event rules are governed by the NSDA and/or MSHSAA.

We'll have 3 preliminary rounds of IE's + Finals, all on SATURDAY.
We'll have 5 rounds of Debate competition, with three rounds on FRIDAY and two on SATURDAY.

FINALS Agenda - Legislations 3 and 6.

Extra Legislation (in case students get through the Agenda too quickly) - Legislations 8 and 10. If we need more (we shouldn't), we'll defer to the December 2024 NSDA Docket.

***VERY IMPORTANT FOR CONGRESS COMPETITORS!***
All students are coaches are responsible for understanding the NSDA rules governing Congressional Debate. I hate even having to put this into my tourney procedures, but unfortunately Congress competitors often like to create issues for tournaments. Please pay close attention to Rules 2A,B,and D. We will not use a preset/random precedence, and no PO at our tournament should attempt to establish such a precendence procedure. Precedence will be established as Round 1 progresses (and especially after the PO is officially elected), and PRECEDENCE AND RECENCY WILL CARRY THROUGH ALL THREE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS OF COMPETITION. If there are competitors who have not given a speech by the end of Round 2, the PO should do everything possible to positively involve those individuals during Round 3. Rules 3-6 govern what is typically considered the "cycle" in Congress, though the NSDA does not officially recognize a cycle. We will use Traditional Questioning procedures, which is Rule 6A. All competitors should be especially versed in Rule 12. Our judges will be instructed to immediately shut down all attempts to suspend the rules or otherwise modify the chamber or procedures that do not satisfy the intent of Congressional Debate as defined by the NSDA.

AWARDS:
The top 8 competitors will receive an award in IE's, including Congress! We intend to break 8 to finals.
The top 8 teams/entries in Debate will receive an award, based on total competition record in all five rounds.

Sweepstakes:
Schools will be automatically entered for the Sweepstakes trophies.
Points are earned based on a school's TOP TWO ENTRIES/EVENT, up to your best 20 entries overall.
Entries earn points by winning debate rounds and being ranked highly in IE rounds. Points are also given based on placement.

LOGISTICS:
Hospitality will be provided to coaches, bus drivers, and adult judges.
Concessions will be provided for students. We'll keep the cost as low as possible, and will employ Square. Cash or card can be accepted.
Wifi will be available. We cannot guarantee specific connectivity with your device, but from experience, our wifi tends to be pretty robust.
