Dear NSDA Teams and Coaches,
Savannah High School would like to cordially invite you to the “Savannah Showdown” Open Speech and Debate Tournament. This year, our tournament will take place Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st. Events will be split between the two days with Friday being I.E.’s and Congress only, and Debate events on Saturday. Entries will be due on Monday, February 24th at 3pm.
Friday: We will be hosting Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Informative Speaking, Original Oratory, Program Oral Interpretation, US Extemporaneous Speaking, International Extemporaneous Speaking, and Congress. Storytelling will be offered following the MSHSAA guidelines.
Saturday: We will be hosting Public Forum Debate (PF), Lincoln-Douglas Debate (LD), and Policy Debate. PF and LD will break to elimination rounds while the champions in Policy will be determined by wins and losses, then speaker points.
NIETOC: Savannah Showdown will offer NIETOC bids in HI, DI, DUO, OO, INFO, POI, USX, and IX based on entries. The 2025 NIETOC will be held in Liberty North High School, MO May 16-18, 2025. All other information concerning NIETOC can be found at www.NIETOC.com.
Entries can be entered into SpeechWire.com until Monday, February 24th at 3:00 pm. We will guarantee two (2) entries in each event and then all other entries will be waitlisted. The entry fee will be $8.00 per entry and $10 for partnered events. We ask that each school provides ONE judge for each day that they attend. We will try not to use coach judges.
