Dear Speech Coach:

The Northern Cass Speech Team invites you to attend our invitational tournament on Saturday, January 25, 2025.   Events will be offered in two flights with two preliminary rounds and a final.  Awards will be given for team, individual, and novice (grades 7-8) placing.   All NDHSAA guidelines will be followed.  We will have internet access available for XS rounds in the school library.  Concessions will be available.  Registration will run from 7:30am – 8:25am with a coaches/judges meeting at 8:30. Speaking rounds will start at 8:45am.

Per NDHSAA Regulations, students may enter a maximum of 2 events at this invitation tournament.  We will allow up to 6 entries per category per school.  Up to 8 contestants will be accepted for the final round, and all finalists and top novices will count toward sweepstakes points.  

NOTE:  The first “draws” for Extemp, EPR, and Radio will be sent by 12:30 p.m. on Friday the 24th.  This will enable us to hopefully get you home before dark and cut about 1.5 hours from the day.

Fees are $7.00 for each single entry and $12.00 for each duo entry.  You must provide one judge for every 6 entries.  Fees for judges provided by the tournament are $70 per judge.  Please make every effort to provide your own NDHSAA certified judges – oh, and please make sure they are on the list, and note any limitations they may have (school affiliation/years removed and event preferences).   

We are using an online service called SpeechWire to handle our registration and tabbing this year. In other words, you will be using this system to register your students and judges. We are requesting completed registrations no later than 5:00pm on Friday, January 17th.   If you do not receive a confirmation by Wednesday morning (Jan. 22nd), please let me know.  Fees will be assessed as of 5:00pm, January 22nd.  Drops made after the deadline will not reduce the registration fee.  Checks for all fees should be made payable to Northern Cass School.

Emergencies on the day of the tournament can be called/text to my cell phone at (701) 373-5097.   On your registration form, please include a number at which you can be reached the morning of the tournament should there be a last-minute weather cancelation.
