Yearling Novice Tournament

Location: Mullen High School, 3601 South Lowell Blvd, Denver, CO 80236 Date: October 12th, 2025 Time: 8:00 - 3:00 (approximate) - first round and first draw start at 8:00.
Events offered: INTERPS: Drama, Duo, Humor, Poetry, POI SPEECH: Combined Extemp, Informative, Original Oratory DEBATE: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, CX
Topics: Debate Topics: September NSDA resolutions will be used for Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas Debates.
Combined Extemp: Round 1 - International Organizations Round 2 - Europe Round 3 - US Political Systems
Rules: We will abide by CHSAA rules and rankings for speech and debate events.
Doubling: All competitors may enter up to two non-debate events, but Exempers will risk losing prep time.
Registration Deadline: Please have as accurate numbers as possible by October 9th. Limit: 6 entries per team in each event Cost: $7 per student Payment: Make your payment to Mullen Speech Team ℅ Michelle Swanson 3601 South Lowell Blvd Denver, CO 80236 *We never want financial difficulties to be a barrier to entry. Please contact the tournament director to discuss costs.
Judges: All teams will be expected to bring one varsity student judge for every 5 speech entries and one debate judge for every 2 debate entries. We will use all student judges every round and will offer a basic training session prior to the tournament. Please explain to students that the more events they're willing to judge, the better the chance that we'll get to use them every round. Student judges will need Speechwire accounts and to be entered by name in Speechwire. Student judges should be entered by October 9th.
Internet: Guest Wifi is available through Mullen High School. This tournament will run using online ballots, so remind your judges and your students that WiFi will be available, and they should plan on bringing a device capable of making an internet connection. We will use the NSDA rules for internet use. Please remind your competitors that WiFi is not guaranteed and backup physical copies are suggested.
Ballots: Ballots for the tournament will be done virtually, through Speechwire. Please have all judges bring devices and chargers with them.
