Gold Rush to State - Virtual Tournament 

Your team is welcome to join us for the “Gold Rush to State” virtual tournament hosted by Golden, Ralston Valley, and SMART High School, February 14-17th. Our tournament is entirely asynchronous! 

This tournament is intended to provide our students more feedback before the Colorado 4A and 5A State tournaments in late February and early March. Schools from any state are welcome to participate. 

Events Offered: HI, DI, Duo, POE, POI, OO, INF, EXT 

A note on Poetry in Colorado: In Colorado, Poetry contestants do NOT have to use a black book. Competitors who do use a black book are NOT allowed to use it as a prop. That is different from many other state leagues. 

Schedule: 

1. Extemp Questions are released by 8am MST on Monday, February 12th. 

2. Video links are DUE by 3pm MST on Wednesday, February 14th. 

3. Prelim ballots released at 4pm MST on Wednesday, February 14th. 

4. Finished ballots are DUE by 7am MST on Saturday, February 17th.

5. Finals ballots are released at 8am MST on Saturday, February 17th.

6. Finals ballots are DUE by 8pm MST on Saturday, February 17th. 

Awards will be emailed out early Sunday morning. We will attempt to Saturday night if finals ballots are not delayed! 

Rounds & Finals: 

All events will have 3 prelim rounds and finals. Events with more than 20 entries will have a “Final” for 1st-6th, and a “Next-In Final” for 7th-12th. This allows us to break the same number of students we would for a semifinal without the time commitment of multiple break rounds. 

Judges & Fees: 

1 judge for every 6 entries

$5 per entry.
