Tournament Logistics

Tournament Format: We will hold 3 preliminary rounds of competition and a final round of competition in every event. The top 7 students from preliminary competition will advance to the final round in each event. The top 3 students in the final round of competition will advance to the MSHSL Class AA State Speech Tournament to be held at Shakopee High School on Saturday April 20, 2024.

Team Arrival at Tournament: Please arrive between 2:30 and 3:00 PM so that registration can be completed by 3:10 PM. All teams should have their busses drop them off at the Activity Center Entrance of Park High School. Students and coaches should congregate in the Activty Center where registration will take place.  Students can use the cafeteria, starting at 3:10 PM as a place to congregate throughout the evening in between rounds of competition.

Team Registration: Registration will take place outside of the Activity Center. It is critical that you call in all changes to Chris McDonald by 2:30 p.m; a call from the bus would be optimal to faciliate the scheduling process. Please call 651-283-5976 with all drops to your entry. Adds are not permitted on the day of the tournament.

Draw/Prep Room: All draw events and preparation for those events will take place in the Park Media Center.

Ballot Drop/Tab Room: The tab room will be located in a computer lab off of the Media Center. All ballots will be electronic on Speechwire.

Timers: Every school is required to provide the section with at least 1 timer to be used during the course of the section tournament. You can email the names of your timers to chris.mcdonald@district196.org

Judges/Coaches Lounge: The judges/coaches lounge will be located in the Park HS FACS Room. A short judges meeting will take place in the FACS Room.
