The Oconto Falls High School Forensics Team is pleased to invite you and your team to our annual North Eastern Conference tournament on Monday, February 5, 2024.  Please read the information below for additional details.

Entries – Maximum number of entries is 25.  Double entering is permitted, but students are responsible for notifying both judges in each round of their double-entry status.

Fees – No fees are required at this time; however, after the tournament, costs will be divided evenly among participating schools.

Judges – Each school must bring one judge per five entries or fraction thereof.  The head coach of each school is not required to be in the Tab Room, so he/she can devote time to the teams or judging if necessary.  Whether you have drops or not, you are still responsible to bring the same number of judges you indicated on your original Speechwire registration.  Attempts should be made to provide no more than three judges associated with the school.

Awards – The awards this year will consist of a plaque for the winning school and 1st and 2nd place medals for students in each competition category.

Rules – Competitors will be evaluated by WISDAA and WFCA criteria.  Rules for WISDAA and WFCA differ in several categories, so judges will be made aware of these differences and must be flexible with students who have prepared under different expectations.   Critique sheets will follow the WFCA format and will include a section for WISDAA scoring.  We will advise judges not to penalize speeches that follow the guidelines of either set of rules: for example, participants in Oratory may use a notecard and speaker stand within the rules allowed by WISDAA but not by the WFCA. The use of notes, chairs, uniforms or binders as props, etc... will be subject to criticism no matter the category. Time limits similarly do not disqualify students or warrant changes in judges' speaker rankings as long as one set of rules are followed; however,  the use of time is subject to criticism and can certainly influence a judge's rankings of performances.

Food – Concessions will be available for students to purchase.  Food for coaches and judges will be provided in our hospitality room.

Entry Deadline – Please have your entries on Speechwire by Monday, January 29th. Double-check your entries by the end of the day on Thursday, February 1st, and PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL ALL ADDS/DROPS BEFORE LEAVING YOUR SCHOOL ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5.

Bus- Buses should drop students off at the Commons doors within the staff parking lot. Students can enter through that set of doors.

Schedule -      Arrival:  3:20 – 3:45 pm                   Round 2:  5:15 pm               SNOW DAY
