Hello coaches, 
 
We would like to invite you to the Columbus North Debate Tournament on January 13th, 2024. The tourney will be held at Columbus North High School located at 1400 25th St., Columbus, IN 47201. 
 
The tournament will be offering six debate events:
Congress, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Policy, World Schools, and Big Questions (single or pair).
 
START TIME - The tournament will start at 8:30am for WSD and Policy, with the other events (LD, PF, BQD, and Congress) starting at 9am.
 
We will have TWO CONGRESS SESSIONS, and FOUR ROUNDS for all other debate events. 
 
All competitors will be in a single varsity division. 
 
CONGRESS will use bills: 
#1 A Bill for Federal Bail Reform
#6 A Bill to Decriminalize Drug Charges Relating to Possession
#11 A Bill to End the Cuban Embargo to Promote Foreign Relations with the Republic of Cuba
and two more bills to be posted by Jan 5th.
 
WSD format: Rounds 1, 2 & 4 will use a prepared motion (This house would set a mandatory retirement age of 70 for federal judges), round 3 will be impromptu.
 
Buses must drop off and everyone should ENTER ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING AT DOOR #1. Buses can park in the student lot further north of the building or in the bus lot on the west side. Parking for cars is available near door #1.
 
REGISTRATION DEADLINE - Please complete registration by Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. Coaches will be able to make name changes and such until Thursday, January 11th, 2024.
 
This event will be 100% E-BALLOTED. All judges will need to have speechwire.com accounts created ahead of time and MUST have an internet capable device (laptop or tablet) with them. 
 
JUDGE REQUIREMENTS - Each school MUST bring the following judges for their entries:
Congress - one (1) judge for every five (5) entries and every fraction thereof.
Debate - one (1) judge for every two (2) entries and every fraction thereof.
**we're anticipating single flighting, we'll adapt if registrations are high... 
 
AWARDS - We will be awarding ribbons to individual students 1st through 8th. Team awards will also be announced.
 
Students are invited to purchase food at our concession line in order to help us pay for the costs of running the tourney.
