Dear Speech Coaches,

 

The speech teams from Connersville High School and Rushville Consolidated High School invite you to our co-hosted tournament on November 18th, 2023. The meet will be held at CHS, which is located at 1100 Spartan Dr, Connersville, IN 47331. Registration will take place from 7:00-7:30 am with Extemp draw beginning at 7:45 am and all other rounds beginning at 8:15.

Students may double at their own risk in all events EXCEPT discussion. We will offer all IHSFA speech events.

 

Broadcasting contestants need to bring a five-minute news program to be used for both rounds 1 and 3 that includes a music intro and outro as well as a commercial.  Round two will be a  two-minute original editorial. Round 4 will be 2-minute on the spot with 2-minute prep at the tournament. Specifics for commercial, editorial, and music will be updated in “Files for Download” the Monday before the meet.

 

Discussion will use the Socratic Seminar format and topics will be released the Monday prior to the tournament through SpeechWire.

  

Concessions will be for sale at the tournament. This is largely how we fund the tournament and pay for the awards, custodians, the judges’ lounge, etc. Please do not bring in food and drinks for your team. There aren't restaurants close enough to quickly visit between rounds!

 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to judges and coaches as a small token of our appreciation for your time and energy.

 

Please park in the main lot just west of the school. Buses may drop off on the Spartan Drive loop before moving to the parking lot.
