You are cordially invited to attend the La Porte Debate Tournament on Jan 13, 2024. Please see the details below and contact me if you have any questions elake@lpcsc.k12.in.us

Registration will be from 8:00-8:25 am Central Time

We are hoping to start round 1 at 8:30 am Central Time

Events Offered:

We are planning to throw everyone into Varsity.

-        Lincoln Douglas – Varsity

-       Public Forum – Varsity

-       Policy Debate – Varsity

-       Congressional Debate – Varsity

-       World School Debate – Open Division

-  No Entry Caps

 

Judges

-        We are single flighting both LD and PF.

-       This means that we need 1 judge for every 2 entries in LD, PFD, Policy, and World School (or fraction thereof)

-       Congressional Debate – 1 judge for every 5 congress entries (or fraction thereof)

 

Meals:

-Lunch will be available for students to buy as well as some snack items throughout the day. 

-Judges meals will be provided in the lounge.

 

Awards:

We will have individual placings through 6th place for each event.

 

Rounds:

-       5 Rounds for PFD and LD

-       4 Rounds of Policy and World School

-       2 Rounds for Congressional Debate

-        Final entries are due the Monday of the tournament week (including judges)

-       Drops will be accepted without penalty – but the earlier the notice the better

Resolved: The United States ought to substantially reduce its military presence in the West Asia-North Africa region
 
Policy Forum Debate – 2024 January Topic Revised
Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income. 
 
World Schools Debate – 2024 January Topic

11. A Bill to End the Cuban Embargo to Promote Foreign Relations with the Republic of Cuba
