Click here for specific instructions to register for this contest.
Participation in this contest can be in addition to, or in lieu of the WISDAA One-Act Play series. Please visit the WISDAA Thespy webpage for more information, category summaries, and links to EdTA's rules, rubrics, etc. Only performances that meet the requirements of Thespy events will be accepted for this particular contest.
Who does this contest serve?

Non-contest one-act schools (perhaps you are doing a large play/musical and cannot commit to the one-act contest. This gives your students an opportunity to still participate easily in interscholastic theatre, without consuming their schedule).
-
Contest one-act schools who have additional students who cannot commit to the one-act, but would like an interscholastic theatre experience.
-
Any student who wishes to perform an audition piece (in Solo Acting or Solo Musical) in front of higher education recruiters.
-
Any school who has driven students who are seeking additional enrichment.
-
Students interested in technical theatre, who want additional practice, feedback, and exposure for their work.
How does it work?
-
Any number of entries from a school may participate online-asynchronously or in-person, Friday, November 17, as part of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Theatre Festival at UW-Green Bay.
-
Film and playwriting entries are only online.
-
Directors who wish to designate Solo Acting or Solo Musical entries as auditions may do so when registering. They must include a résumé for each student. Please see our information page for more details.
-
Students earning superior ratings at contest will qualify to the International Thespian Festival (ITF) at Indiana University Bloomington (enrollment in a school-based Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) -International Thespian Society troupe is required for the ITF). However, schools and students may participate in this contest without further participation in the EdTA or ITF.
-
Entry fees are $15/entry; 1 adjudicator must be provided by the participating school for every 4 entries or fraction thereof; uncovered adjudicator slots will be assessed a fee of $100/slot.

A single person may cover multiple adjudicator commitments; contact office@wisdaa.org if you wish to cover multiple slots and we'll manually adjust your invoice.
-
Virtual: Thespy State videos/files due: Tuesday, Nov. 21 (allows students who couldn't make the in-person contest to pivot to virtual); directors will share a video file from a Google Drive or YouTube link and must make sure links are unlisted/publicly viewable to "anyone with the link" -- see this page for more guidance; Thespy Virtual State adjudication window: Nov. 24-28.
