On Saturday, November 4, 2023, MVTHS will host the first SISAL Tournament of the season.

 

If space allows, we will offer two preliminary rounds and a final in each event, just as we have in previous seasons.  

 

Each school must provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof up to a maximum of 7 judges.  The number of judges you must bring AND the fees you owe are based on the PRELIMINARY ENTRY, even if you drop entries later.  If you cannot provide enough judges to cover your entry, then we can hire judges for you for a fee of $80 each. PLEASE let me know ASAP if you need me to hire judges for you. Mt. Vernon typically hires a TON and loses money on this, so we are trying to get ahead of the curve a bit.

 

            Information and Reminders

 

1. Your preliminary entries AND JUDGES should be submitted online at speechwire.com by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30th.

2. Entry confirmation should be made BY NOON on Friday, November 3rd.

3. On the morning of the tournament, please call or text when you leave from your school to confirm whether or not you have drops.  If every coach does this, then I can print accurate schematics that morning. My number is 618-731-1588.

4. Entry fees are $3 per entry.  Make checks payable to MVTHS.  Please add $80 to the total per judge the tournament is hiring for you. 

5. For league dues, request a separate check for $50 payable to SISAL.  

6.  Each school may bring no more than 5 entries per event, up to a total of 56 entries.

7. Judges must be available for ALL rounds, including finals. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let me know ahead of time.

8. As a reminder to our central-Illinois friends, SISAL tournaments do not allow students to triple-enter.

9. Radio competitors should come with a prepared cutting to read for each round. Extemp will prep before each round. Final Prep for Extemp will be determined on how much time we have.
