2024 MILLARD WEST WINTER WONDERLAND
 
Dear Forensics Colleague,
 
The Millard West Forensics Team cordially invites you to attend the 24 Annual Winter Wonderland Speech Tournament to be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.

ENTRIES ARE DUE BY 8:00 p.m. ON Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024 
 
Community Champion Award! 
Once again, MWF will be asking teams attending to help us support a local non-profit. This year our organization is YES-Youth Emergency Services. You can find information about them here https://www.yesomaha.org/
Items they accept can be found on their website but are:
 
New, in-package and/or clean, gently-used clothing. Please only donate new, in-package undergarments. 
 
Home goods
 
Current season clothing items, as we have limited storage space
 
Personal or self-care products for all skin and hair types
 
Feminine products and diapers 
 
Cleaning supplies
 
Prepackaged food, snacks, and drinks (bottled water and Gatorade in summer months)
 
Bus passes 
 
There will be an award for the team with the most donations! So please harness your charitable heart and donate to a fantastic cause. 
 
 
EVENTS and RULES
We will be following NSDA rules for the following events:  Humorous Interp, Dramatic Interp, Original Oratory, Extemp, Duo Interp, Informative, and Program Oral Interp.  
 
We will be following NSAA rules for the following events:  Entertainment, Interp of Poetry and Oral Interp of Drama(we will allow for 15 minute times to accommodate all). For out of state schools the NSAA rules can be found at http://nsaahome.org/speech/ 
 
We will follow standard NE Community rules for Impromptu--5 minutes prep and up to 5 minutes delivery. Draw will be online. 
 
**We WILL be using online Extemp Draw. Please prepare your extempers for that.**
 
ENTRIES and FEES
Students may triple enter.  However, we will not hold a round if they are running late.  We will also be recognizing Top Novice in each Individual event.  
 
Entry fee will be $8.00 per event (Duo counts as one event).  
 
JUDGES
You must provide one qualified judge for every six (6) entries.  
Any entry not covered by your judges will cost an additional $15.00 per entry.  
Please try to cover as many judges as possible.  
 
ALL JUDGES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR FINALS.
 
Any entry not covered by your judges will cost an additional $15.00 per entry.  
If you drop entries after 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, you will be charged 10.00 dollars per entry.
If you drop judges after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, you will be charged 25.00 dollars per judge.

**There will be NO refunds for drops after the entry deadline**
 
AWARDS
Trophies will be awarded to the champion in each event with medals for 2-6 place.  There will also be a trophy for top novice in each individual event.  Sweepstakes will be awarded to the top three teams.

**AWARDS A.S.A.P. FOLLOWING FINALS**
"Students advancing to bid rounds of this tournament will earn one official bid for the 2024 NIETOC hosted at Bellevue West HS in Bellevue, NE on May 10-12, 2024."
**We will send six students in all events to finals, six to honors finals. If entries warrant, 6 to merit finals and 6 in consolation finals in the NIETOC events only.**
 
**Ties in finals will be broken on the following criteria:
1       Total ranks in this round/s
2       Prelim opponents' average rank (this preferences those in more difficult sections)
3       Head-to-head in prelims (2-way ties only)
4       Reciprocals in this round/s (here a 1-2-3 combination would advance over a 2-2-2)**
