General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Ohio. View manager contact information
Columbus-GMV District Tournament
Exciting Extravaganza at Lincoln High School in Gahanna, Columbus District
February 4, 2023
Registration BEGINS AT
Please Note:
This tournament does NOT combine districts for competition!
We are working together to run tab and share judges to enlarge the judge pool.
To help us plan, PLEASE enter your contestants and qualifiers by Wednesday 25 January.
If you have any speech competitors at all you will be required to provide 1 speech judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof; "competitors" here means your total entries including bid entries. In debate, provide one judge for every two entries, and bid entries count in that ratio of required judges.
FOR INSTANCE
The following entries: 1 IX (Bid), 2 USX, 1 OO (Bid), 2 OO would need 2 judges for the duration of the tournament despite physically (virtually) having 4 competitors. If you have questions or concerns with the ratio, please reach out immediately.
The State qualifier tournament requires parent/community judges to have a minimum of 3 tournaments of experience before judging at state qualifiers. Above this minimum requirement, please try to get the most experienced judges you can to give our students the best adjudication and to limit problems from inexperience during a complicated tournament.
Each school can register up to 4 entries per category, but that total of four must include your students who've already earned their four bids. There is additional information about qualifiers that you can access on SpeechWire under the "Custom Information Page."
There are no observers in any round.
Please note the specific tournament instructions sent to you by your District Chair including payment, OSDA prescribed qualifying ratios, and awards. Be sure to be aware of the following OSDA rules:
POI, INF and OO scripts need to be submitted with cover sheets. Each head coach needs to submit those correctly formatted scripts during registration on Saturday or the student will be dropped from the tournament.
Cover sheets can be found on the OSDA website which is also linked on the download page.
Additionally, on tournament day, Speech students need to be able to produce
* Their original script source(s)
* A copy of the original script source(s), with the spoken words highlighted in the order spoken.
* A typed copy of the performed script.
