Hello Friends!

You are cordially invited to the 2023 Asynchronous Speech Championship! Much like the OATS, the ASC is here to serve the needs of the forensics community. The ASC is an opportunity to recognize the excellent work done throughout the year at asynchronous tournaments. We know that some students simply cannot participate in national tournaments requiring multiple days of travel and competition. We know the physical demands and the inability to work during those times may make synchronous national competition impossible for some students. ASC exists for everyone to participate, but especially those students who want to see where they land on the national scale in a championship competition but who may not be able to travel or compete in synchronous ways. With a sustainable model and a focus on equity and inclusion, the ASC aims to provide students with a learning and competition space.

Highlights

  • Competition will be fully asynchronous, including finals
  • All 11 IE categories will be offered
  • Content warnings are encouraged to give adequate warning to judges/competitors
  • No late adds are allowed
  • ASC will utilize an honor system for judges and competitors
  • Tiered, equity-focused fee structure
  • Additional fees for uncovered slots or dropped judges
  • Payments accepted by Venmo, PayPal, or by check
  • 2023 Video submission date: March 22 @ noon CST
  • Any nonworking video links will result in student competitor entry being dropped from the tournament as of 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday. Teams are responsible for providing working video links.

Full information about competition and fees are listed below. If you have questions feel free to contact Julie Walker by phone (call/text 706-844-2773) or email (outspokenculture@gmail.com).
