Welcome to the 2nd annual Stuart Novice Only Invitational.

 

January 7, 2023, with a start time of 8:00 a.m. and a 12:00 p.m. finish.

 

This is a novice competition.  Please limit your entries to first-year speech competitors. We will be running all events except extemp at the same time, so please be mindful of the number of entries.  Technically, speakers could enter up to three individual events or two group events, but as mentioned, please be mindful of the schedule.  We are on a tight schedule to get everyone out of Stuart in time for ball games, and if you think your student will not be able to get to each of the speaking engagements, please do not register them.

 

Extemp will have only two rounds, but we will try to have two judges in each round. All other events will have three preliminary rounds. NSAA rules will be followed, and all ten events will be offered. 

 

We will use electronic ballots. Plan accordingly with devices.

 

We plan to award certificates to all students; however, we will not keep placings or sweepstakes points.  We want this to be a learning experience for everyone.

 

Please provide one judge for every five entries. For this meet, we will welcome your experienced varsity members as judges.  I will also need help in the extemp room. (Let me know if you are interested.)

 

Fees will be $5.00 for each entry plus $10.00 for each entry not covered by a judge. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, January 4th.  There will be no refunds for scratches made after January 5th.

 

Breakfast items will be provided for coaches, judges, and bus drivers in the lounge. 

 

There will be basketball practice for our Stuart Athletic Club elementary students in the gym as well.  We will be determining homerooms when we know how many schools will be attending.

 

We will NOT be operating a concession stand.  We have Southside which is a wonderful convenience/gas station that serves delicious breakfast items (breakfast pizza is AMAZING) and they also serve lunch sandwiches, pizza, and soup. If you want to call orders in, 402-924-3550.  Cast Iron is also a lunch choice, and you can't go wrong as far as sit-down dining goes! They have a drive-thru and welcome carry-out orders as well. 402-924-3784
