Dear Colleagues, you are invited to the 4th annual The Ocelotl hosted on Saturday, February 11th, 2023 at Strive Prep - SMART Academy.

Tournament Highlights:

-A later registration time! Enjoy that extra hour of sleep, especially in February! 

-FOUR prelim rounds as your team prepares for Qualifiers in the weeks ahead! 

-Plans to break as many students as possible to outrounds to celebrate a season of hard work! 

-The chance for students to double/triple enter!

Events: HI, DI, POI, Poetry, Duo, INF, OO, Extemp, Impromptu, Congress 

Schedule:

8:00-8:30am: Registration

9:00am: Round 1 & Congress Session 1 9:30-11:30

10:30am: Round 2

Noon: Round 3 & Congress Session 2 12:30- 2:30

1:30pm: Round 4

3:00pm: Finals

4:30pm: Awards

Doubling/Tripling: If a student would like to enter Congress and another event they may, but that will cost them debating time. All other student may enter into as many events as they can manage.  

Internet: We will use electronic ballots, so please have judges bring an electronic device! Congress and Extempers will be able to access the internet during the tournament. 

Judges & Fees: 

-1 judge for every 6 entries 

-$10 per event, $20 per duo

NIETOC: We are proud to be a bid tournament to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC), also known as the Speech Tournament of Champions. Bids can be earned in the following events: HI, DI, Duo, POI, OO, INF, and Extemp. Our team has attended this national tournament in May for many years.
