Dear Speech and Debate Coach,
Lewis Palmer High School and Palmer Ridge High School are proud to invite you to the Palmer Divide and Conquer Invitational at Lewis Palmer High School on Saturday, January 7th, 2023. We will be running a wave-style tournament, including powered debates, doubling and finals in all events. This tournament will follow CHSAA rules for all events.
Location: Lewis Palmer High School 1300 Higby Road Monument, CO 80132
Events: We will be offering three rounds and finals in Drama, Humor, Poetry, Duo, POI, National and International Extemporaneous Speaking, Creative Storytelling, Impromptu, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, LD Debate and Public Forum Debate.
Wave A events will include Duo, POI, USX, FX, OO, Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Creative Storytelling Wave B events will include Drama, Humor, Poetry, Informative, Public Forum Debate, and Impromptu

Registration and fees Please register your team at www.speechwire.com no later than Wednesday, January 4th, 2023. Early registration is encouraged. We will charge $10.00 per single entry of: Drama, Humor, Poetry, POI, Extemp (NX & IX), Info, Creative Storytelling, Impromptu, and Oratory, and $15.00 for all Debate and Duo entered in the tournament. You may have up to 5 entries per competition event and competitors may register for 1 event in each wave (No Doubling between debate events). Tournament entry fees will be based on your pre-registration numbers; any drops made after the January 4th deadline will forfeit the entry fee.

Final Registration and Schedule: Final registration will be between 7:00 and 7:30am. Awards are scheduled for 6:30pm. We will run on a wave system for all rounds.
If you are running late the morning of the tournament, please call or text my cell phone (below) to let me know when you will be arriving. Arrivals after 7:30 may be dropped from the first round.
Extemp Draw: Draw will take place in the library 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the round. Tentative Schedule:
Judges: Bring judges. The more judges you bring, the more smoothly the tournament will run. Each school must provide judges based on competitors: 1-5 Speech/Interp entries will require one judge, 6-11 will require 2 judges, etc.; 1-2 Debate entries will require one judge, 3-4 will require 2 judges, etc. Any school not meeting their quota of judges will be fined a $50 fee. Please remind your judges to turn in ballots within 10 minutes of a round’s completion.
Awards: Awards will be presented to 1st -6th place winners. Sweepstakes for top teams will be awarded.
Food: Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided for judges and coaches. Competitors will need to bring their own food or purchase food available at our concessions stand.
Debate: PF debaters will use the January NSDA Topic: Resolved: The United States Federal Government should increase its diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve internal armed conflicts in West Asia. LD debaters will use the January-February NSDA Topic: Resolved: Justice requires open borders for migration Debate rounds will be power matched after round 1. Cell phones may be used as timers, provided they are in airplane mode. We will use CHSAA rules for internet usage. Students will have access to the internet through D38 Guest. Warning: it is filtered.
