Events: All OSDA High School/Middle School Speech Events. Debate: High School L/D (only). Congress: High School and Middle School Congress
Fees:$4.00 per competitor ($8.00 for a duo or a public forum team). MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: Liberty Speech and Debate
Deadline: Monday January 9, 2023 AT 8:00 P.M.

LOGISTICS
Busses should drop off students at the Liberty Jr/Sr High School. The Blott Guy PK-6 building is a short walk across the parking lot.
Teams and judges can check in by the Tab Room in Liberty Jr/SR High School
Speech events are scheduled for Liberty Jr/Sr High School, One Leopard Way, Youngstown, Ohio 44505
Debate and Congress are scheduled for the Blott Guy PK-6 Building, 4115 Shady Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44505
*Congress judges may judge HS or MS
*Speech judges may judge HS or MS
Judges: 1 judge for every 6 I.E. competitors
1 Judge for every 6 Congress entries
2 Judges if over 6 Congress entries.
1 judge for 1 or 2 L/D Debaters
2 judges for 3 or 4 L/D Debaters
3 judges for 5 or 6 L/D Debaters
THIS SAME RATIO APPLIES TO PUBLIC FORUM TEAMS AS WELL.
In I.E., a judge who just graduated from high school last year may NOT
judge the event in which he/she competed. A parent or other close family
relative should NOT judge the event in which the current competitor
competes (not applicable in L/D or Public Forum Debate)
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO MARK JUDGES OFF OF EVENTS WHEN REGISTERING ON SPEECHWIRE!
Do NOT drop judges even though you may be forced to drop contestants
A dropped judge on the day of the tournament will cost you $30.00.
A $30 fine will be assessed for each judge a school is short. FEES WILL BE ENFORCED THIS YEAR
Rounds: There will be 3 rounds in all I.E. events and 2 sessions of Congress. Precedence and Recency will reset. There will be 4 rounds in L/D Debate.
Extemp: Topics from the past 90 days of the standard news magazines will be used.
Awards: The top 6 in each HS category will receive a trophy. The top 3 in each MS category will receive a medal.
In I.E., a 1 = 3 pts.; a 2 = 2 pts.; a 3 = 1 pt.
In L/D and P/F, a win = 2.25 pts. (0 pts. for a loss)
In Congress, a 6 = 3pts. a 5=2pts., a 4=1pt.
Please do all drops on Speechwire the morning of the tournament.
Saturday registration will begin at 7:45am and end at 8:30. Rds will hopefully start at 8:45-9:00am.
ALL Judges will check in with judge room staff by 8:15am.
Please register as soon as possible. More concrete logistics will be shared as we get a feel for numbers.
