Dear Speech Coach:

 

The Munster High Speech Meet will be held on January 31-February 6.   The tournament only offers a varsity division. Registration is due by Monday, January 30. You may bring up to a total of 40 entries on the sweeps team.  However, you may bring a non-sweeps team if be the necessary judges to support the entry. 

 

 

VIDEOS- Video links are due by Monday, January 30.   Please confirm that the link is viewable to the public.   We will not have time to contact teams and judges if a video link is not viewable.  Judges will be instructed to mark students last if the video is set to private.  

JUDGES - Judges must be available to judge prelims between Tuesday, January 31 and Monday, February 6. Asynchronous ballots will be distributed by Tuesday, January 31.   They will be due by Monday, February 6 at 7:00 PM. We will spin the final round on Friday and release e-ballots to judges.  

 

 

 

RADIO

Prelims : Pre-written 5-minute newscast including, commercial, music lead-in & lead-out of the contestant's choice.

 

 

 

Please bring one qualified judge, willing to write informative critiques, for every five entries or fraction thereof.  

 

 

Extemp: We will offer both international and US topics.  We will keep the event separate if numbers are warranted.  Extemp topics will be taken from current events.  Students will be able to select their desired extemp question and prepare one video. After the coach provides the question list, students shoiuld immediately prep for thirty and record the speech.  Coaches might facilitate the draw. 

 

Impromptu - Students will have a total of 7 minutes flex for Impromptu.  Coaches will give students three choices from the impromptu list.  Students select their choice and record their video.  Students will prep as part of the recording.

 

 

Awards

We will recognize the top 8 finishers and top 5 teams.  Awards video will be released by Tuesday, February 7 evening.
