TF North High School is proud to host the South Suburban Conference Tournament on Saturday, December 17th, 2022.

SCHEDULE

The tournament schedule will consist of three prelim rounds and a triple judged final round.

8:00am ROUND 1: DDA, DI, HI, IMP, INF, OC, OO, PO, PR, SOS

8:45am Radio Prelim Prep in the IMC

9:00am Extemp Prelim Prep in the IMC

9:30am ROUND 1: ES, HDA, OD, RS

ROUND 2: DDA, HI, INF, OO, PR, SOS

11:00am ROUND 2: DI, ES, HDA, IMP, OD, OC, PO, RS

ROUND 3: DDA, OO, PR

12:30pm ROUND 3: DI, HDA, HI, IMP, INF, OD, OC, PO, SOS

1:45pm Radio Finals Prep in IMC

2:00pm Extemp Finals Prep in IMC

2:30pm Final Rounds - All Events

4:00pm Awards in the Gym

JUDGES

Each team will need to furnish the following number of judges based on individual entries:

10 – 12 Entries: 2 judges

13 – 19 Entries: 3 judges

20 – 24 Entries: 4 judges

25 – 30 Entries: 5 judges

31+ Entries: 6 judges

Please make sure that your hired judges are at least two years out of high school (a college sophomore). Individuals who are one year out of high school will not allowed to judge.

Schools with four entries in every event should be ready to provide at least half of their judges as “clean,” meaning they can judge anything and have no knowledge of which students are on your team.

RULES

The South Suburban Conference Tournament will follow I.H.S.A. rules for all individual events with the following exceptions:

Extemporaneous Speaking: Contestants will have one 30-minute prep period. That speech will be used for both preliminary rounds. Contestants will be double-judged in Round II and single judged in Round III. Finalists will prep for a second time. Remember - the IHSA rules have extended Ext. to 7 minutes.

Radio Speaking: Contestants will have one 45-minute prep period. That script will be used for both preliminary rounds. Contestants will be single judged in Round II and double judged in Round III. Finalists will prep for a second time. Time will factor into contestant ranking.

AWARDS

Team Sweeps will be based on your score in each event.

A SSC Red Award for Conference Champ and Conference Runner-up will be given. The SSC Blue will award the same. Top three individuals in each event will be given a medal and they can be recognized as “All-Conference” in your school.

A "Top Novice" award will be given to the novice with the highest score that DOES NOT make the final round.

FOOD

Snacks, and lunch will be sold.

ENTRIES

Teams can enter up to four competitors in each event.

All final entries are due by Friday, December 16, 2022 by Noon.
