The Titan Talkers invites your team to our Souper Bowl speech invitational on Saturday, December 3rd at Norris High School! 

 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

We are once again proud to be a NIETOC bid tournament! 

There will be three preliminary rounds and finals. 

Competitors may triple enter.

 

EVENTS

Informative, Persuasive, Entertainment, Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Poetry, Program Oral Interp, and Duo/Duet. For Duo/Duet, we will combine them and utilize a 12 minute time limit to accommodate both. 

As we host early in the season, competitors will NOT be disqualified for usage of a manuscript in Informative, Entertainment, and Duo, BUT judges may take handling of a manuscript into account when ranking entries.

For the purpose of awarding Top Novice, please indicate novice entries during registration. All students will compete together - there is no separate novice division.

 

FEES

Entry fees will be $8.00 and are assessed at entry deadline.

 

JUDGING

Please provide one judge for every five (5) entries. Judges may be hired at $15 per uncovered entry. When you register a judge on SpeechWire, please make sure you include a valid email address. A hospitality room featuring homemade soup will be available.

 

E-BALLOTS

We will utilize e-ballots and schematics this year. Internet access will be available. Please bring a charged device. We will continue our tradition of a "poster drop" in the gym to announce finals, and will also blast them out electronically immediately after.

 

AWARDS

The Souper Bowl will once again feature unique, hand-painted pottery as awards! Team plates will be presented to the top THREE teams. Individual awards will consist of bowls for the top two in every event as well as a top novice award in each event. Decorative spoons will be handed out for 3rd through 6th.

We will also feature our annual holiday Extemp contest! All competitors are invited to bring holiday cheer to current events and submit humorous responses, with small awards for our favorites! Coaches will receive this at registration. 

 

CONCESSIONS

We will offer a variety of traditional and homemade items for competitors at our concession stand. Additionally, pizza and homemade soup will be available between rounds 2 and 3.

8:00 - Registration (west main entrance of the high school, in front of the auditorium)

8:30 - General Meeting & Extemp Draw, Round I (library)

9:00 - Round 1

10:00 - Extemp Draw, Round 2 

10:30 - Round 2

11:30 - Extemp Draw, Round 3 

12:00 - Round 3

1:30 - Extemp Draw, Finals

2:00 - Finals (AWARDS to follow ASAP)
