Dear Fellow Speech Coaches:

You are cordially invited to the annual Dassel-Cokato Charger Invitational to be held Saturday, March 18, 2023. We also hope this will be a strong tournament going into postseason! Many updates will be shared over the next few months.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Registration: Up to six per category (duos count as one entry). $7 per entry.

 

Double Entering: Double entries will be allowed.

 

Judges: Please bring one judge for every six entries. If you drop students, you still need to provide the number of judges you originally registered. Please note that in the event of unbalanced entries, some of you may judge your own students. We will try to avoid this if at all possible.

 

Schedule:

     7:30 Registration closes

     8:20 Draw Meeting

     8:40 Judges Meeting

     9:00 Round ONE

     10:30 Round TWO 

     12:00 Round THREE

     2:00 Finals

     3:45 Awards 

 

Format: All MSHSL events and time limits

 

Draw Categories: ALL draw categories will have 30 minutes to prep, starting at 8:30 a.m. 

     Extemp. Reading will have all cuttings

     Extemp. Poetry will have all cuttings

     Storytelling will have all stories

     Discussion task will come from Section 2 - 

     Cuttings and Tasks provided by CMS&DCA

 

Awards will hopefully be in our Performing Arts Center.

     Medals will be awarded to the top seven places in each category

     Honorable Mention ribbons 

     Special certificate recognition for our seniors and first year speakers and Charger Award

     Team awards as well for the top three schools in each division (small, medium and large, based on total number of finalists)

  

Please register for the tournament no later than 10:00 p.m. on Saturday March 12, 2023. Changes to the registration can be made up to the morning of the tournament, no later than 7:30 a.m. Please log-in to SpeechWire for the changes. If you are unable to do that Saturday morning please call/text Beth at (612) 205-5880 between 7:00-7:30.
