Regis Jesuit Novice Tournament
 
We are thrilled to invite you to this year’s Regis Jesuit Novice Tournament! 
 
Location: Regis Jesuit High School, 6300 Lewiston Way, Aurora CO 80016
Date: October 15, 2022
Time: 8:00-3:00 (approximate)
 
The dizzying highs and dismal lows of speech and debate return. Get excited!
               
 
Registration
 
Deadline: Please register by Tuesday October 11th, 5 pm.  
 
Limit: Per tradition, we will accept up to five (5) entries in each event. 
 
Cost: $6 per single student event, $10 per team (duo, policy, PF) event, based on preregistration on October 15th. 
 
Payment: Make checks payable to Regis Jesuit High School with note "Speech & Debate."
 
 
Judges: Teams will be expected to bring one varsity student judge for every five speech entries and one judge for every two debate entries. We will use all student judges every round and will offer a basic training session prior to the tournament.  Please explain to students that the more events they're willing to judge, the better the chance that we'll get to use them every round.
 
Ballots: Ballots for the tournament will be done virtually, through Speechwire. Please have all judges bring devices and chargers with them.

Platform: Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Combined Extemporaneous Speaking
 
Interpretive: Humor, Drama, Poetry, Duo, Program Oral Interpretation  
 
Debate: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Policy Debate, Congressional Debate
 
 
Debate Topics:  
 
Lincoln Douglas - Resolved: The United States ought to implement a single-payer universal healthcare system.
 
Public Forum – Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially increase its investment in high-speed rail.
 
Policy – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.
 
Congress - Docket will be available one week prior to the tournament
