Glenbrook North Tournament of Heroes
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Illinois. View manager contact information Dear Speech Coach, Welcome to the Glenbrook North Tournament of Heroes: "With great power comes great speakers!" We are proud to host a speech invitational on Saturday, January 28th, 2023. We will run three preliminary rounds and a final round. (Depending on #s, we may run a flighted schedule.) All 14 IHSA events will be featured, and we will adhere to IHSA rules. As we are limited in building capacity, so we will accept schools based on first-come-first basis. Triple entries are allowed, but please have students pay close attention to the schedule. FEE: Entry fees and judges are as follows:
1-14 entries = $150
15-28 entries = $200
29-42 entries = $250
43+ entries = $300
Please bring 1 judge for every 6 entries (please round up for fractions). We ask that all entry fees be paid at tournament check-in or mailed beforehand to:
Glenbrook North HS ATTN: Sarah Ilie, Speech/IE 2300 Shermer Road Northbrook IL 60062 EXTEMP and RADIO: Extemp will have a 30 minute prep for EVERY round and give 7 minutes speeches (see IHSA rules regarding internet usage). Radio will have a 45 minute prep for Round 1 & 2 (reuse for Round 3), then a new prep for the final round. TOPICS: Please submit IS & ES topics (10 each). MEALS: Breakfast, snacks, beverages, and lunch will be sold in the student cafeteria. Snacks and lunch will be provided for the judges/coaches in the faculty cafeteria. AWARDS: Individual awards will be provided for the finalists in each event. Charitable donations will be made in the name of the top five (5) teams, based on final round results, in lieu of team trophies. JUDGES: Please bring one (1) judge for every six (6) entries, with a maximum of 7 per team.
