View manager contact information The Doane University Forensics Team would like to invite you to our tournament on Saturday, January 7th on the Doane University Campus in Crete, Nebraska.
The deadline for entries is Monday, January 2nd at 5:00pm CST.
We are very excited to announce that each event champion will receive a $2,000 scholarship to attend Doane University as a member of the Doane Forensics team. This offer is stackable up to 3 times. So, a student who wins 3 events at The Doane Forensic this year (or in subsequent years) can receive up to $6,000 in scholarships.

Events: Humorous Interp, Serious Prose, Duo Interp, Persuasive/Oratory, Entertainment, Extemp, Oral Interp of Drama, Informative, Poetry, Program of Oral Interpretation
Entries and Fees: Entries are capped at 6 entries per event per team. Additional entries can be placed on a waitlist and additional entries will be allowed based on total entries after the registration deadline.
Entries are due Monday, January 2nd, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. Fees will be assessed on Wednesday, January 4th at 5:00 p.m. Registration will close Thursday, January 5th at noon. Changes after this point should be emailed to nathaniel.wilson@doane.edu.
Entries will cost $8 each (individual or group). Judges cover six entries. Uncovered entry fees are $15. A $50 fee will be charged for any judge dropped after Thursday, January 5th at noon and a $100 fee for any judge dropped on Saturday.
Don’t bring sick people to the tournament. But, please communicate entry changes as early as possible.

Awards: Individual trophies will be awarded to all finalists. We will also award the top novice in each event. Please identify novices on your entry. A novice is any student who has not competed in high school speech prior to August of 2022. In group events, all members must be novices for the team to be recognized as novice. Team trophies will be presented to the top three teams. Individual Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top three speakers.
Hospitality: The Doane Cafeteria Brunch Buffet will be available for $6.75 per person. If you would like to preorder meal tickets, please indicate the number of lunch tickets your team would like to purchase when you register on Speechwire. That total will be added to your entry fee. If you would not like to preorder, meal tickets can also be purchased during the tournament.
Tiebreaking: Prelims Contestants will advance to finals based on lowest cumulative rank. Ties in rank will be broken on: strength of opposition, head-to-head, and reciprocals. Finals Placing in final rounds will be determined by lowest cumulative rank. Ties in rank will be broken on: judges’ preference, reciprocals, and prelim ranks. Sweepstakes Ties in team and individual sweepstakes will be broken on the number of finals; followed by number of 1st place finishes, 2nd place finishes, etc.; and then 1st place ballots, 2nd place ballots, etc.
