Hello! Bishop Noll Institute is proud to co-host, with Crown Point High School, the "BNI / CPHS Combined Speech Extravaganza of Greatness". First and foremost, it is important to note that the debate tournament is the priority this day. Crown Point is being very generous in letting us use their building, and facilities, and doing the concessions / lunch thing, and Bishop Noll is pretty much typing this invite. Hmm. Still considered cohosting! 

 

Seriously though, the debate tournament is the priority. Practically, what that means is that we may trade judges if the debate tournament needs the help. All judges in the speech tournament should be prepared for the opportunity to see some Congress. Or LD. Maybe some World Schools. You get the point. 

 

The current schedule for the day may change. We are trying to be in step with the debate tournament as much as we can be. Extemp prep will start at 8:30 am CST and awards should be no later than 3:45 pm CST. The round start times may be adjusted in between those start and end times. 

 

Events you know that we are offering: Discussion, Impromptu, IX, USX, Radio.

 

"Different" events we are offering: Improv Duo, Extemporaneous Reading (see below), and Spoken Word Poetry (see below). 

 

We only have so many rooms available to us. This is why we are choosing to run a short list of events. We hope that Extemp Reading and Spoken Word Poetry will appeal to the interp students. And a wise man once told me that it's good practice for public addressers to do some impromptu. 

 

Day-of registration will run from 7:15-7:45 CST at the Main Entrance to Crown Point High School. 

 

This tournament is at CROWN POINT HIGH SCHOOL.  1500 S. Main Street in Crown Point. This tournament is on central time.

 

Four straight rounds. 

 

One division - varsity. 

 

Concessions will be available. As will lunch. For purchase.

 

Please submit all entries by Friday, October 28.  Drops may be made via Speechwire until midnight on Friday, November 4.

 

Please bring one judge for every 5 entries. 

 

The overall team entry cap has to be 25. (Limited rooms)

 

Bus Parking  is on the North part of the building, off of Burrell Drive. This is also marked as the construction entrance. Enter through Door N7 or N8. Additional parking is available via the main entrance on Main Street. 

 

Please check in at the main entrance lobby. Located next to the cafeteria. 

 

Crown Point is currently under construction. This creates some limitations in parking and access to certain parts of the school. Please inform students to NOT enter construction zones for their safety!!!!

 

Student area is in the cafeteria. Due to space limitations we cannot offer individual team rooms at this time. 

 

Tab Room is in room D133. Next to the “D” Learning Commons entrance. 

 

Judges lounge is in room D128. 

 

World Schools Prep (and Extemp prep) will be in the Learning Commons (library.)
