Hello.  Please read over the following information concerning judges for this tournament.  As it is a novice only tournament, we will be using your varisty members to judge.  ONLY REQUEST ENTRIES YOU CAN COVER BY JUDGES!

1 judge for every 4 LD and PF debate entries

1 judge for every 2 CX debate entries

1 judge for every 5 IE entries

*If you have additional students that would like to judge, please let me know.  With COVID and the ACT, we could always use judges!

Judge Notes:

●        Please enter your judge names in Speechwire. Judges should come prepared with a laptop to judge. Ballots will be done via Speechwire.

●        Your student judges will also be the time keeper for the round.

• NO ORAL CRITIQUES ARE TO BE GIVEN!  Any judge found giving oral critiques will be asked to leave and entries not covered will be dropped.

Student Judge Regulations

1. No oral critiques are allowed even if they are asked for.  Ballots are provided for comments.  Please tell your novice debaters not to ask for oral comments.

2. Judges will also serve as the timekeepers for the rounds.  Since judges will be on their laptops, please make sure that they are paying attention to the round.

3. Instruct your student judges not to switch assignments with other judges.  This causes us to run behind and creates issues later on with assignments.

4. Student judges should have a minimum of 150 NSDA points in order to judge.

5. Please discuss with your judges ahead of time about being polite and encouraging. This will be many students first tournament and we want to provide them with a positive experience. Judges that cannot abide by this rule need not judge.
