General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a College tournament in Illinois. View manager contact information October 2022
Dear Colleagues,
Bradley University eagerly invites you to the 75th Annual L.E. Norton Memorial Tournament, which will be in-person from November 5-6, 2022. The Norton is well known for its competitive spirit, along with a rich tradition of hospitality; this year will be no different. Our new Assistant Director of Forensics, Dr. Bill Heinze, Assistant Coach Tia Collins, along with Team President David Daye and Team Vice President Kaity Johnson, and the rest of our staff and team, are excitedly preparing for your Norton experience! We will offer novice and open divisions for all 11 AFA events. We will continue to award 2-year team and individual sweepstakes as well. Congratulations to the last year’s open team sweepstakes champions, the University of Alabama, and their student Anna Kutbay, for winning individual sweepstakes. Additionally, as customary, we’ll be honoring someone with the L.E. Norton award, who embodies the leadership, devotion and passion for college forensics exemplified by Dr. Norton. Congratulations to last year’s recipient, Kelly Jo Wright, from the University of Wisconsin, Eau-Claire.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope you’ll join us in Peoria to celebrate our activity and our tournament namesake, Dr. L.E. Norton.
Sincerely,
Andrew Eilola Director of Forensics (218) 290-5574
Bill Heinze Assistant Director of Forensics (630) 414-5330

Tournament Notes Content Warnings We recommend the use of content and/or trigger warnings when possible for competitors who may be performing sensitive material. This can be stated prior to the performance.
Quiet Room There will be a quiet room available for students, coaches and judges who experience sensory overload or need a space to decompress.
Open Door Policy We encourage competitors to stay and support all performances if they are not double-entered. However, we will have an open-door policy where students and audience members are free to leave before, during, and between performances without negative repercussions. Additionally, judges should accept all forms of listening, including students who disengage from a performance (e.g., actively dissociate, put their head down, etc.) when they are uncomfortable. We will remind judges and competitors of this at the tournament.
Judge Concerns Please contact the tournament director if you have concerns about being judged by someone at the tournament. Blocks can be put in place if you have a problematic history with someone or are simply uncomfortable.
