STUDENTS: If you’ve ever considered competing in debate, or if you're interested in getting together with fellow, intellectually curious students; please consider joining us for an evening of debate fun. Low pressure, informal, 3 regular rounds (1 final) of Big Questions Debate and some pizza. NO DEBATE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! 
 
Topic: On balance, societies benefit from religious belief and practice 
 
WHEN: April 27th, 3-8pm
 
WHERE: Location: Lake Brantley HS, 991 Sandlake Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 
 
COST: $5 / Entry (entries can be solos or duos) includes pizza and a beverage for participants and judges. $1 of your fee will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross - Ukraine. Cash or check at the door. Make checks out to Lake Brantley High School.
 
JUDGING: We are asking that every program bring 1 judge for every 6 students or 3 teams. However, if your program is really struggling to get the required judges, please contact us. BQ judging training on site immediately before the event begins. 
 
SKILL LEVEL: Self-identify as beginner or varsity—again, NO DEBATE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
 
ELIGIBILITY: Open to current 8th-12th grade students
 
STRUCTURE: NSDA Big Questions Debate, 3 regular rounds, then there will be a final round for the top competitors in each category. This round will be available for observation by all competitors (for learning purposes). 
 
Parking: Please arrive on-time. Park near the aquatic center and follow signs. Enter campus at the traffic light DIRECTLY across from the Forest City Elementary School. 
 
MISC: HUGE--free, prep packet available, great for those new to debate
Prizes awarded at the end of the evening! If you're a new non-NSDA member school you'll receive a half price school membership and free Resource Package after this event! If students would like service hours for this event, please bring the service hour sheet and the organizer will sign at the conclusion of the event. 
 

Coaches: Our goal is simply to offer an opportunity to enjoy debating. Feel free to encourage your newer students or incoming 9th graders to participate.

Although we want participants to show up meeting the basic SCPS dress code, students may absolutely wear what they would normally wear to school (especially since this event is immediately after school).
