In order to keep comfy and warm this February, the Union Grove High School Forensics Team invites your team to join us for our Fleece and Flannel Festival on Saturday, Feb. 19th at Union Grove High School. All questions regarding the information below should be addressed to Jennifer Jackowski at jackjen@ug.k12.wi.us or 262-878-2434 ext. 1253.

A festival consists of three rounds (no final round).  We will run the festival using the WHSFA scoring rubrics.  However, as we encourage the participation of all schools, regardless of organization affiliation, all rulings will be made to the benefit of the student.  For example, we accept a 2nd person in Demo speaking, multiple radio voices, notes/notecard/reader’s stand-in categories which state the use of such is appropriate, electronic devices for Extemp, 10- or 12-minute time limits for group events, the more specific descriptions provided by WHSFA in Special Occasion, the use of script as a prop in interp. categories, and the use of chairs/stools in Solo Acting, Group Interp, and Playacting.

Entries: 4 entries per category.  We do NOT allow double-entries. Remember, that you must have a judge for every 5 entries and the fraction thereof.  I MAY have judges for hire at a cost of $100/judge.  You must notify me by Tuesday, Feb. 15th should you need one.

Dress Code: Who says fleece and flannel can't be dressy? Feel free to wear either item (or both?) to this festival. We can save the top hats and tiaras for sub-district.

Awards: (Based on total points from all three rounds)
70-75 = medal
60-69 = blue ribbon
50-59 = red ribbon
49 and below = white ribbon

Registration:  You must register for the festival on SpeechWire.  Let me know if you have any technical difficulties (jackjen@ug.k12.wi.us).  Please have all your entries on SpeechWire by Wed., Feb. 16th.  Whatever your judge total is on the 16th based on your entries, is what you will be responsible for bringing to the tournament on Feb. 19th.  Minor edits may be made on SpeechWire until the day before the tournament!  Come Feb. 18th, you will NOT be allowed to make any changes.  All drops MUST then be texted to me at 262-930-6058.

Day of the tournament: Please do not arrive until 7:45 AM! Please ask your bus drivers to drop students off in the southern lot of the school. (Doors are located to the left of the weight room which is next to our football field.)

Food: We will provide concessions for purchase. Muffins, chips, candy, water, soda, etc. (Judges and coaches will have breakfast food provided for free.)
