The coaching staff and the administration of Sheboygan South High School are excited to welcome teams across Wisconsin to our tournament for in-person competition on February 26th, 2022.

Our tournament will be offering all regular WFCA categories, plus two extras: Oratorical Declamation and Extemporaneous Reading.  Rules for those two extra categories can be found in the “files for download” tab.”

COVID mitigation details:

  • masks will be required at all times for all participants except when eating/drinking, or when students are at the front of the room competing.
  • team rooms:  teams will be assigned a gathering room for the time before round 1 starts and after round 3 ends.  These rooms will likely be used for preliminary competition rounds, so students should plan to carry their personal belongs with them throughout the day.
  • electronic balloting: judges will write critiques and ranks students online through Speechwire.  All judges should plan to bring a laptop or other suitable device with them.
  • Food:  pre-packages snacks and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the tournament, as well as grab-and-go options at lunchtime.  Food and drink will be provided for judges in the judges lounge, but judges are encouraged to eat lunch in the assigned room of the school that hired them.
  • Awards:  Awards will be presented in the auditorium.  Schools are expected to cluster together in the seats with sufficient space between each school.

Entires:  COVID mitigation is preventing us from holding as large of a tournament as we usually do.  We are stating with an initial limit of 40 entries per team (which may not have an effect at all on many teams anyway).  On Sunday, February 20th, we’ll look at our numbers and see if it is feasible to life that cap.

Teams are welcome to enter as many students at they like in any category, but only the top four entries in any category will count toward the team score.

Judges:  School are obligated to bring one qualified judge for every five entries or portion thereof.  Hired judges are available at a cost of $25 per uncovered entry.  (For example, if you have 17 entries and bring 3 judges, you’ll be charged $50 for the two uncovered entries)

Fees:  $10.00 per individual events and $15.00 per Play Acting, Duo Interp, and Group Interp entry.  You will be responsible for all student entry fees and judge obligations at of 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 24th.

Awards: The top three entries in each category will receive trophies.  All other finals will receive medals.

We will offer a “triathlon trophy” to the top ranked triple-entered student based on prelim ranks.

Team awards will be given to the top three teams in large, medium, and small divisions.

STUDENT CONGRESS:  We will host a VIRTUAL student congress on the afternoon/evening of Friday, February 25th.  This will be run through tabroom.com.  Registration and details will be posted there during the week of February 7th.
