The Wrightstown High School forensics team and administration cordially invite you to the third annual Blue Rose Tournament on Saturday, March 26! Due to ongoing construction, space is limited this year, but we will do our best to accommodate as many entries as possible. Please note that we may run FOUR preliminary rounds; all entries will be assigned to three of the four preliminary rounds.
While we are running a WFCA tournament, we invite WHSFA schools to join us, too.
COVID MITIGATION Masks: Masks are required at all times except when eating/drinking. Students may remove masks at the front of the room before they compete.
Rooms: Each team will be assigned a gathering space to use prior to round 1 and after round 3. Students are encouraged to carry personal items with them throughout the day.
Balloting: We will use electronic balloting, so all judges should plan to bring a laptop or other suitable device. Any judges uncomfortable with electronic balloting are allowed to use paper ballots; just please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
ENTRIES Teams may register up to 40 entries with up to the top 25 counting toward team sweepstakes points. We welcome DOUBLE and/or TRIPLE-entry; however, students may not double/triple in BOTH extemp and radio.
EVENTS In addition to standard WFCA categories, we will also offer oratorical declamation.
RULES We will follow WFCA rules for applicable categories with the following allowances for competitors from WHSFA schools: - Demonstration Speaking: There may be two speakers - Oratory: One 4x6 notecard is allowed but not required - Solo Acting: A single, stationary chair is allowed but not required - Public Address entries should be entered in Oratory
WHSFA coaches: please let us know if you have any questions/concerns about rule variations.
Oratorical Declamation will follow NCFL rules.
JUDGES Please provide one qualified judge for every five entries or fraction thereof. Hired judges are available at a cost of $25 per uncovered entry (for instance, if you have 17 entries and bring three judges, you’ll be charged $50 for the two uncovered entries). You must provide the number of judges you indicate on your registration as of Wednesday, March 23rd and any additional judges to accommodate late adds. Please contact us in advance if you have a judge who is uncomfortable completing online ballots. FEES $10 per individual entry and $15 per Duo, Group Interpretation, or Play Acting entry. Please make checks payable to Wrightstown High School.
AWARDS The top three finalists in each category will receive trophies. All other finalists will receive medals. The highest scoring double and triple entered students will also receive awards.
Team divisions will be determined based on actual entries on Saturday, and team awards will be presented to the top three teams in each of three divisions.
FOOD Concessions will be available for purchase by students. Coaches, judges, and bus drivers will all be provided with a variety of food options throughout the day in the judges’ lounge.
