You are cordially invited to participate in the Durango Purgatory Congress on February 1, 2022. The tournament will be held ONLINE VIA SPEECHWIRE & ZOOM and hosted by Durango High School. 
 
Events: We will host Congressional Debate at varsity level. We will have one 3-hour round from 4pm-7pm.

Congressional Debate: Please submit bills and resolutions by 4pm Tuesday, January 25th by email to tjolley@durangoschools.org in PDF format or Google Doc format. The docket will be available on www.speechwire.com on or before Wednesday, January 26th.
 
Entries: Registration will occur via www.speechwire.com. Registration will close on Friday, January 28.
 
Judges: Each school is expected to provide 1 judge for each 10 congress entries. Judges will need speechwire accounts and to be entered by name in speechwire. Judges should be entered by Friday, January 28.
 
Fees: There are no entry fees! 
 
Registration and Schedule:  Registration check-in will be held from 3:45-4:00pm. All schools must check-in by 4:00pm. The round will begin promptly by 4:15pm.
 
Rules:
 
·      Each school (administration, teachers, and/or coaches) is responsible for ensuring they have proper parental permission for students to participate in the tournament and to use the designated competition platforms.
 
·      A responsible coach must be available at all times.
 
·      Competition is open to 9-12 grade students representing the school in which they are officially enrolled and doing so with the permission of their school administration and/or coaches.
 
·      We will use NSDA rules in Congressional Debate.
 
o   Congress will have one round. 
 
o   POs must PO for at least one hour of the session. 
 
o   The docket order will be set when it is released.
 
·      All competitors and judges must have a speechwire account to log in.
