2022 Big Red Tournament of Love heart

Hello to our Speech friends from coast to coast!

The Cornell Speech Program is excited to invite you to this year’s Big Red Tournament of Love! Although BRTOL is virtual once again, we promise a day nonetheless jam-packed with impressive advocacy and great community. Hosted just one week after Valentine’s Day, the Big Red Tournament of Love is a Cornell tradition that stretches back several decades. Although these may be uncertain times™, we’re offering some familiar traditions. We’re excited to bring back our BRTOL classics, including the Big Red Heart Award, the Big Red Advocacy Telethon (BRAT), and others. This year, we also have a few new plans that we think you’ll love! Get excited for a powerhouse guest speaker, creative awards that we’ll mail to finalists, and our “Flat Speechie” (a la Flat Stanley) Challenge.

This year’s tournament will offer the traditional 11 AFA-NIET events and IPDA debate. The deadline to register is Wednesday, February 16th at 6:00pm EST. For questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Cornell Speech program at cornellspeechteam@gmail.com.

We can’t wait to see you all in February!

Be well,

The Cornell Speech Program

    3. All preliminary rounds will be randomly preset. Brackets will not be broken in elimination rounds.
    4. Topic draw will take place in IPDA competition rooms.
    5. There will be no disclosure, the period of oral critique given by some judges in other formats of debate.
