WELCOME BACK TO IN-PERSON FORENSICS!!!

The Administration and Forensic Coaching Staff at Appleton East High School are pleased to invite you and your forensic team to the “Appleton East Forensics Tournament” on January 29th, 2022.

The Appleton East Tournament will offer “Double/Triple Entering.”  All registration will be conducted on Speech Wire.

COVID MITIGATION:

We will do our best to follow the guidelines laid out by the WFCA for safe, in-person tournaments.  For a full list of those guidelines, please visit the WFCA website, but here is short summary of a few of the procedures we will follow:

  1. Masks—Masks will be required for all coaches, judges and students except when actively performing, eating, or drinking.
  2. Social Distancing—Each team will be assigned a team classroom to gather both before the tournament and during the lunch break.  These rooms will only be available before round 1 and after round three, so students should plan to carry all belongings with them.  Team supplies can be left in a corner of the room, but be aware that these supplies may be inaccessible during prelim rounds.
  3. Electronic Balloting--We will require all judges fill out electronic critique sheets and ballots in order to limit the use of paper and surface contact between schools.
  4. Food—We will have concessions available for purchase in the morning and during the lunch break.  We will focus primarily on pre-packaged foods and “grab and go” box lunches.  Students should plan on eating in there team rooms and not in the cafeteria.  Judges’ food will also be available, but we encourage judges to gather and eat with the team that hired them (especially if they travelled together).
  5. Awards Ceremony—We will gather as a large group in the auditorium for awards.  We will enforce mask wearing throughout the ceremony and require teams to clump together and separate themselves from other schools as much as possible.

ENTRIES: You may enter as many entries as you wish. Varsities will simply be counted as the top 25 scores with the limitation of no more than 4 entries per event. DOUBLE AND TRIPLE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED in all categories. If you have a student or students that are double entered, they will count as 2 entries, and triple as 3. (Count the entries, not the students.)

FEES: Entry fees are $10.00 per individual events and $15.00 per Play Acting, Duo Interp, and Group Interp entry.

JUDGES: Each school must bring one judge per five entries, or fraction thereof. Judges may be hired from us for $150.00 per judge. Whether you have drops or not, you are responsible to bring the same number of judges you indicated on your original registration form.

ENTRY DEADLINE Wednesday, January 26, 2022. You will be allowed to make changes on your own to your registration until Friday at 4:00PM, but you will be responsible for the number of judges required as of Wednesday at 5:00 pm.

AWARDS Individual trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category. Other Finalists will receive medals.

Team trophies will be awarded to the first three schools in sweepstakes points based on a maximum of 25 entries per team. Two Medium Team trophies (13-19 entries) and two Small Team trophies (5-12 entries) will be awarded upon qualitative results (average) of actual students competing.

RULES WFCA rules will be followed. Please make sure that all of your judges attend the judges meeting at 8:05 in the East Auditorium.

FOOD: A concession stand operated by the East Parents will be available during the day.

(Unfortunately, we will not be running a Student Congress event this year)

QUESTIONS: If you have any questions, please feel free to email: millerpaul@aasd.k12.wi.us.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 29th!
