Happy New Year from the Yellow Springs High & McKinney Middle School Team!

We hope that you can join us for the 4th Annual Yellow Springs Fearless Forensic Festival -- a Middle/High School Speech & Debate Tournament -- on Saturday, January 29th. To support your students in preparing for Districts and States, all speech & debate events will be synchronous. And, while we wanted to host a “hybrid” or “in-virtual” competition, we have determined that it is most responsible to go virtual given that hospitals are overwhelmed despite most people not having serious impacts when exposed to COVID.

We are offering all OSDA events (except Policy & Big Questions Debate) for middle & high school with 4 Rounds for IE and 5 Rounds for debate; there will be 3+ hours of Congressional Debate divided across 3 sessions. Double and triple entry are only by special permission. Note that we will be using the January NSDA Public Forum resolution - The United States federal government should legalize all illicit drugs.  For Congress, High School competitors will use the January '22 docket, and Middle School will use #1, #3, #4, #8 & #9 from the '21-'22 docket.

Sadly, we could not come up with a viable way to share Ha Ha Pizza, Young's Ice Cream and our potluck community with you virtually, but we are providing awesome signature awards for the Top 6 in each category. Some may remember that we had nice Bulldog trophies and bamboo medallions last year, and the trophies for 2022 won’t disappoint. We also have team sweepstakes awards for middle school as well as small and large high schools, and a team spirit trophy -- so get your Zoom backgrounds ready!

The YS Speech & Debate Team is committed to ensuring a safe atmosphere of mutual respect and prohibits all forms of harassment and discrimination. The YS Fearless Forensic Festival continues to follow best practices recommended by competitors, OSDA and NSDA. This includes highlighting implicit bias during judge meetings, raising awareness about pronoun use, designating an Equity Officer to manage complaints/concerns, and any other policies or procedures that can be reasonably employed.

So, pull out your favorite tie-dye apparel & peace sign jewelry and join us for a great speech & debate experience with our "Welcoming Village" - Everyone's Favorite Place! Please contact me via brianhoush@gmail.com or 937-776-9566 if you have any questions. Make checks payable to Yellow Springs Schools (420 East Enon, Yellow Springs, OH 45387). We can also arrange online payments via PayPal.

Have a great day! Brian Housh, Cindy Sieck & Corrie Van Ausdal YS Speech & Debate Coaches
